Around the World in a Cement Boat: A Young Girl's True Adventure

This book was AMAZING. I read it while traveling to Norway over the summer. Each night I would read before bed and oddly enough the next day we would do something on a boat. The writing is superb and I really felt like she captured what it was like from a child's point of view to live on a boat. I am also having my daughter read the book (she is 12) the questions in the back of the book are a great assignment for a kid. I just love this book and am going to buy multiple copies to give as gifts. I was lucky enough to get a copy and have it signed by the author. She takes you on an amazing journey of her very very exciting life. WOW

This book took our family on an incredible adventure. We read it in conjunction with our unit study on ships but the story encompassed so many topics that it was the source of juicy conversations throughout our days which is a sign of a great read- aloud. We felt attached to the characters and had to remind ourselves that this amazing story was true. We hope that Cheryl Trzasko will write more of her adventures because her style, wit and wisdom were a delicious addition to our days.A word from my daughter:This book is totally meant for the family.The excitement, the suspense, the adventure; I loved it all! And you will too!

This book was given to me to read as an assignment from my Mom, but I can truly say that it didn't feel like one. I have tremendously enjoyed reading it! It was actually very difficult to put down (read it several times). If you're wondering if your teen will like it, wonder no more. They will! I highly recommend it!

I just got this book a few days ago, and I finished it in a couple sittings. It's a great read. And a remarkable story! I was growing up at the same time as this author, but I didn't have near the adventures she did. Wow! As an adult I did some sailing, and this book made me nostalgic for the sea again.This book would be great for middle school or high school students or to read together as a family with younger kids. Would be perfect for a kids book group as the author includes discussion questions in the back. And it was also an entertaining and captivating yarn for an adult.

I LOVED this book!!! I took it on vacation to read and what a treasure! I had a hard time putting it down as I always wanted to discover what happened next. I highly recommend this book for all ages. It reminds me of the American Girl book series with the adventures and life lessons. It is beautifully written and I wish this book was part of a series complete with dolls for girls to play with. It is amazing this is a true story! What a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a new adventure this is the book for you! It also makes an excellent book report book as the kids enjoy reading it!

I just wanted to say how much my 10 year old enjoyed this book. We got it this week and in two days he was done reading it! He loved traveling the world and being part of this amazing family’s crazy adventure. Great book to read as a family too.I highly recommend it!! 😉

This book was wonderfully written by a woman whose talents have been hidden and should be discovered by readers of non fiction as well as fiction books. She has written this book to describe the wonders she experienced as a young girl and her descriptions of the events of this trip on her and her family is written as well as any fiction book I've read in many years. She has written a book full of wonder and intrigue and excitement. I think you can't go wrong with getting a copy of this wonderful book.

I give the book a 4 star rating. She described their adventure through a young girls eyes very well especially the hardships plus the strength of both her mother and dad .
