Better than stock; not too much bigger
The media could not be loaded. Tested this antenna out on a GM-30 from radioditty for nearly four hours. Two radios were run side-by-side, one with each antenna, on scan mode for several hours.Compared to the stock antenna, this antenna received weak signals more often, and middlin’ signals with less noise and greater clarity. Indeed, it received weak simplex signals that the stock antenna did notAlso, one of the repeater identification transmissions came with a lot of noise — until I realized that only the stock antenna was noisy. Notice what happens when the stock antenna. Radio is turned off in the video.)The radio with this antenna received the repeater identification audio with full quieting and noise free. (to be fair, picking up the stock antenna radio and rotating in certain directions, eliminated the noise, but that was not necessary with this antenna.)The antenna is thin like a whip (accept at the base) and quite bendy, which is good. It is only about 2 inches taller than the stock antenna (20.5 cm), however, and so does not require a lot of special handling. Also, tested it against the RD-332 which is a very long whip (38 cm) but there was no comparison. Even the stock antenna beat the 332.In short: does what it advertises, more sensitive, cleaner reception than stock. I have not yet tested transmission range or sound quality on transmit, but based on the reception test, but it still seems like a worthwhile upgrade. We have a set of six GM-30s in a charger base, and I will be acquiring four more of these antennas to fit up the other radios. (We’ll keep the stock antennas as a spare or for strictly close in work. )Works, improvement is worthwhile.

worth it!
made a big improvement in reception. Better than I expected. not only GMRS, but also the NOAA weather channels. We lose power a lot (remote location) and use the weather radio often. This antenna is great for the GM-30 radio.

Improved TX and RX
I tested the stock antenna and the the upgraded Radioddity antenna on a local repeater from about 7 miles out. My friend on the other end said the upgraded antenna took all of the hiss out of my transmission for a noticeable difference. The receive signal also came in a bit clearer. This antenna is about 2” longer than stock rubber duck, but a bit thinner and did not make a difference to me in size. I think it’s a good upgrade if you’re looking for an improvement in performance. You’d probably have even better results with a longer Nagoya 771 or Signal Stick, but those antennas are just too long, especially for traveling on road-trips inside a vehicle, which is my primary use. Very happy with this antenna.

Works But Antenna Doesn’t Seat When Attached
First let me say Radioditty support was great. The antenna works well, but does not seat all the way (see photo). They also provide a small washer, but it is too small to fill the gap. This makes the radio susceptible for moisture or dust accumulating into the antenna and potentially the radio. Note the radio is not waterproof or water resistant (as advertised in the description). I discussed this with support. I was told it was acceptable and agree it doesn’t affect performance.

Clearly improved the range on my Radioddity GM-30 GMRS radio vs. the supplied antenna
The nearest repeater to me is 9.55 miles away. When I first got my Radioddity GM-30 radio with a short "rubber duck" antenna, I was able to connect to this repeater (the repeater responded with Morse code after I released the key, even if no person responded to my call). I was finally able to get a radio check, but was told that very little of what I said was understandable. I was, however, able to hear transmission from a repeater over 20 miles away. After installing the RD-332, my reception did not seem to improve. I switched back and forth a few times during a net on the more distant repeater, and couldn't tell the difference in the reception. However (and more importantly), the transmission clearly improved. I was able to hold a conversation using the 9.5 mile-away repeater and was told I was received loud and clear. So, this antenna is a very inexpensive but worthwhile upgrade.

Good Ham Radio Antenna
I’ve had many HT antennas. This one is performing very well so far. It seems to be sturdy and well made. Time will tell.73 VE7HJ
