Cool robot
Grandson loves it. Simple to use, once you get the hang of all it can do. Songs are great for kids.

Works on hard floors and dense pile carpet
This is a reasonable size human style robot that "walks" and "swings arms." Small rubber wheels on the feet provide the movement, so it is more of a slide than a walk. The gesture control (forward, reverse, right, left) works well. The "programming" is limited. Press the "programming" button on the controller--followed by up to 50 steps (like forward, forward, right, reverse, etc.)--then press "programming" again to execute the steps. The robot does not remember the steps; this is a one time sequence. Pressing "programming" again clears everything and starts over. The instruction booklet is difficult to understand and not entirely correct. It is written in five languages and every instruction is sequential (read step number one in English, then skip over 4 paragraphs in other languages, etc.). Charging instructions indicate that "light on the back of the robot will stay lit," but there is no light on the back of the robot. The light on the usb cable (red) goes off when the robot is charged. Voice control is a feature I could not get to work. According to the controller diagram, this is button number 13. In the written instructions, this is number 18. "There are totally five voice commands to choose from," according to the manual. It doesn't say what these commands are nor does it say on the box. The dart that can be "fired" from the arm travels 12 inches maximum--so it's not dangerous. For a basic remote control robot with sounds, lights, gesture control and limited programming; this works.

OK but needs adult help
The robot is fun and has some cute features. It can move forward/backwards/turn by either 'walking' (moving its legs and arms, sorta) or 'running' (rolling on its wheels like a car). It has quite a number of features: it can tell a story (actually, old jokes; but only 2); sing (5 songs, Old MacDonald, Bingo...); give a 'science lesson' (4; the continents and oceans, etc.); 'teach English(!) by singing ABC's and counting numbers. It will 'dance', probably it's most fun thing, but it just goes back and forth and turns around while music plays. Robot has arms that move, but only when it 'walks'/'dances' - you cannot control them otherwise. Cannot grab things, etc. The remote control can make all these happne, plus 'walk' and 'run'. It's kinda odd layout - the 'walk' buttons on one side, run on the other. Not 'geographic' like most toys that have 'up' / 'down' keys and 'left' / 'right' keys. On this remote, they are all in one column, unintuitive. 28pg booklet, in multiple languages plus small pics of buttons, etc. Clearly printed. Very annoying to use: each item / button has the descriptions in all languages, followed by the next item. So 1 or 2 items per page in English; lots of paging past other languages. Should have all English together, not spread all over the book. Descriptions are barely adequte. Could not figure out how to use 'verbal' commands - says it responds to them, but does not say WHICH words(!) Tried 'STOP', 'GO', 'WALK', etc - nothing. Does respond to hand gestures - if your hand is within an inch or two of the front of the robot; and not very accurate, hard to get it to work. Useless trouble shooting section: 2 items, each with 2 'solutions' - trivial. Very hard for a kid to work the charger; need an adult to help with plugging in and monitoring (not hard, but requires adult attention). Robot has LiPoly battery - subject to damage rather easily if the robot gets broken/opened. You MUST use the charger that comes with the robot - the charger contains the auto-shutoff - the robot has no such safety, so you can overcharge with a 'plain' charger (a possible fire hazard, in my opinion and experience as someone in fire safety). They say "must be supervised by an adult". Agreed! Battery in robot takes about 2 hours to charge; appears to be about 300 mAh capacity. Lasts quite a while - over an hour, depending on how much you make it move vs play sounds. Battery will self-discharge in 30 days (per their doc); they recommend periodically recharging when not otherwise in use. (Right! I'm going to keep track of that!?) Robot's battery is 'must be carried out by a professional'. Remote uses AA batteries (not included); has no 'hard' power off, so you either remove the batteries or replace them if you just let it sit idle without removing. Remote has good range (within a room or so) and has good responsiveness. Includes a 'shield' and 'gun' that attach using just friction (post into a hole). Gun shoots small 'missiles' - but you have to push a button on the gun: the robot cannot fire the gun (nor can the remote).TL;DRSix year old enjoyed this for a couple days, then it got old. Needs care and feeding by an adult to get any reasonable play with it. Not that expensive, but also not that functional (in my opinion, as is all of this, of course). I'd have a hard time recommending it to other parents if asked - just not that engaging vs the work needed.
