Seems to be effective on mortar and worth a try
I needed to cover an outside wall that appeared to be letting damp in and then leaking into my garage the other side. The quality of this appears to good and there is noticeable less damp, so the leak prevention appears to be working. I wish it was cheaper, but it could be a lot worse. I recommend trying it if you have damp issues for outside walls.

Easy to apply.
I recently applied Stormdry Masonry Waterproofing Cream to my home’s exterior sand stone walls, and the results have been outstanding. The cream’s thick consistency made application straightforward, adhering well without dripping. After curing, water beads off the surface, indicating effective water repellency. One of the standout features is its breathability; it prevents water ingress while allowing moisture within the walls to escape, reducing the risk of damp-related issues. Additionally, the product is BBA-approved, offering peace of mind regarding its durability and performance. A slight darkening of the brick was noticeable immediately after application, but this faded over time, returning the bricks to their original appearance. It’s worth noting that proper surface preparation is crucial; cleaning the masonry beforehand ensures optimal absorption and effectiveness. Overall, Stormdry has exceeded my expectations, providing a reliable and long-term solution to protect my home from penetrating damp.

It’s simply brilliant and withstood torrential rain from storm Amy
Expensive but exceptional - this was applied to Tyrone Rustic Brick on an exposed chimney stack on a bungalow. When applying, recommended a dry chimney stack, and allow at least 8 hours after for no rain, but preferably 24 hours is best. Despite the rain from Storm Amy Over two days, no rainwater penetrated the brickwork indoors. From the spec. It suggests that even greater weather protection occurs as the product soaks in and cures. At the time I thought expensive, but given the repair that it has saved me having to do it was well worth the £124. That said I am left with half a bucket of product. You are advised Not to apply twice as it ruins the breathability of the product. The longevity of 25 years yet to be tested but if it lasts for 10 I will be happy. It is so easy to brush on. Thick and creamy consistency, paints on white and in about 10 mins turns clear and runny. Within about an hour it’s barely visible. I would suggest wire brushing the chimney first as recommended to remove any debris or lichen. If you have any dampness this is the cure. Cannot recommend product highly enough.

Very effective...
Very impressed so far. Only time will tell long-term. Had a new gable end wall built for my loft conversion. Brand new expensive bricks to match the originals on my 80 year-old house. Then 6 months later we have the wettest winter for 200 years with winds from the south constantly soaking the wall. With no time for the bricks to dry out between the rainy days, they eventually absorbed the water all the way through and with no cavity wall for the water to drain into, the rain appeared on the inside of my house and dripped from the lintel above the window. The new bricks look nice but are clearly not a match for the 80 year-old originals when it comes to waterproofing. (How can brick companies sell bricks that are this absorbent?) Anyway, having done plenty of investigation on-line, I opted for Stormdry as the solution to the problem. I hoped the old maxim that you "get what you pay for" was true in this case as it is not the cheapest product around but we wanted an effective and long-lasting solution as I don't want to be having to put scaffolding up every few years to reapply a waterproofer. It went on very easily. We did it by brush to get into the nooks and crannies. You can certainly see where you have been and true to the instruction leaflet, the Stormdry was absorbed into the wall and the bricks returned to their original appearance after a day or so. About three weeks after applying, we hadn't had much rain so we soaked the wall by hose before the scaffolding came down, just to see how the wall would react. The water beaded and ran off the surface of the bricks. A couple of hours later the wall was dry to the touch which certainly would not have been the case before. It looks very impressive and l am hopeful that this will solve the problem long-term. Hosing the wall for half an hour is not exactly the same as the constant drenching the wall got during December 2013 but it gave us an idea of the effectiveness. Based on the quoted figures for coverage of the product, I bought too much rather than too little. Our bricks were so absorbent that they took twice as much as the stated amount (and I am convinced they would have taken even more if we had had more to apply). So I am hoping that the depth of effective waterproofing in my bricks is therefore also twice as much as it would have been. I recommend this product.

Seems to waterproof - time will tell - expensive
I'm trying this as I have solid brick walls and an internal wall which is very cold in winter, some small amounts of black mould appearing and blown plaster as well. Inside I have also used the anti-mould paint but decided there may be an underlying cause, namely water ingress via the bricks. It's very easy to apply and brushes clean out in soapy water. The 1 litre tin covered about 3.5m square but I have bricks with grooves on them so they need more paint. I've used a water pistol on the dry surface and it's clearly got some water resistance compared to where I have not applied the waterproofing. As my wall is about 100 years old perhaps it needs a second coat? Gave 4 stars as very expensive.

Very easy to use and it works perfectly! Excellent support from Safeguard, really helpful company.
I have a house with an external free-standing stairs constructed in concrete with steel reinforcement. On each side of the stairs is a white moulded balustrade made from reinforced cement coated with plaster. Over the years, damp has got into the moulding and the joints in the handrail and base, damaging the structure of the stairs. I contacted Safeguard to see if their Stormdry Masonry Cream would be a suitable product to seal the balustrade. Safeguard were extremely helpful, sent me samples and followed up by email. First I tested a sample on the balustrade to ensure it didn’t change the colour. It did not change the colour – it is as white as ever! So I ordered a 3 litre tub of Stormdry. The instructions on the tub were very clear, and advised that any cracks over 0.3mm must be filled prior to application. I filled the cracks with waterproof mastic then cleaned the entire balustrade with a soft copper-wire brush. Finally I painted on the Stormdry Masonry Cream. The painting was easy with no mess – but the instructions advised to avoid getting it onto paintwork or glass. It didn’t change the colour, it’s still beautifully white, even after a month. The balustrade looks better than new, and now it’s sealed. About a month later we had a really heavy downpour. The water just formed droplets on the balustrade, so obviously did not penetrate it. The lower walls to the stairs looks perfect. The underside of the stairs - the real problem - looks perfect too. I am now using this Protection Cream on the rest of my balustrades where I know I have damp penetration Safeguard technical support gave me very good support and reassurance. Great company and excellent product.
