Good fit, easy to install
Extremely useful item as I had two water butts inoperative due to a leaking tap on one, plus a damaged Water Butt that the tap had sheared off & gone inside. I couldn't find any Sankey replacement taps in stock anywhere & generic replacements were over £8 each & I wasn't sure they would fit well enough to fix my problem butts. I bought two of these Sankey taps when I made another Amazon purchase, as they are low cost 'add on' items. They were not only much cheaper but also the right brand & in stock. They fitted perfectly, no leaks & two perfectly good water butts are back in everyday use for less than the cost of one generic tap.

It's a tap
This small, black, plastic tap rises to the challenge of controlling the flow of water from a butt with reasonable adequacy. Once inserted through a suitably sized hole, the included washer and plastic bolt can be screwed on from the inside and the tap will stay in place with the washer ensuring a leak free seal.Rotating the tap's handle will allow the flow rate to be adjusted or reduced to zero, as expected, although under testing it was discovered that the lever required two or three complete rotations before any flow was forthcoming. In conlcusion, this tap works as intended.

A prince amongst taps
This is a serious piece of kit, after fitting it, when turning the handle, which is easily graspable, in a clockwise direction, water flows smoothly from the small pipe. Turning it back in an anticlockwise direction stems the flow. This would be a good choice for anyone who owns a water butt but not a tap and wants to have a situation where they can access the water in their butt under controlled circumstances.Note: I feel it's important to add this note as this caught me out; if your tap appears not to be working, check that there is some collected rainwater in your water butt, I sent two taps back to Sankey when in fact there was nothing wrong with them, it's just that there had been little rain and no water collected, so it's an easy mistake to make.

Great for adding to water barrels or butts.
In these water saving times I have built up a collection of water butts, not all had taps so I looked around and found these inexpensive taps which do their job well. If you have short arms and deep butts you may find it difficult to tighten up the inner nut otherwise they are simple to fit.

Easy to fit and quite a good flow rate
Bought to replace a broken tap. Easy to fit and quite a good flow rate. I do find that when I connect the hose connector it leaks a little but it's only a minor thing.

Spot on
I bought this to make a water butt for my Dad as he's just had a water meter fitted so thought he should start collecting free rain water! The tap is pretty simple and has a solid/well made feel to it. It's just a tap with a plastic (but sufficient) nut and rubber washer. The water inlet is 20mm and actual diameter is 25mm so I just cut a 20mm hole in a 100ltr blue plastic drum and forced the tap through so it was a tight fit. Put the rubber seal/ring on the inside and fastened the plastic nut on just over hand tight. Didn't silicone it or anything and it's all good. It's full of water and there are no leaks. The opening/closing mechanism of the tap is very good and I cannot see any problems at all.Good purchase.

Basic water tap, but it's not a Sankey as advertised
Purchased as a replacement for a very stiff and seized up one. This is a basic Sankey design but is made by Strata, not Sankey as advertised. However it fits the water butt, works smoothly and has a good flow.

Water on and then off
Good price and is a well constructed replacement for the original. You may wonder why anyone would need a spare tap or need to replace a tap on a water butt. My only slight niggle is that the instructions don't specify that the wife should use her hands to open or close the tap on the rare event that she waters the garden. The tap is apparently not designed to be kicked repeatedly, so the instructions should mention as such.Neither is the tap suitable to be used as a step, or able to sustain the impact from a Renault Scenic at 20mph.At least I have found Amazon able to deliver them quickly, they aren't too expensive and I have a "Sankey Spare Tap (Black)" ready in my shed for the next time I need to replace one.
