Good used trumpet
I dont play trumpet. Whether this is a good trumpet to play I leave to others to decide. This was for my daughter. Just wanted to report that the trumpet was in excellent shape and fully functional, as advertised. We saved a bundle over renting an identical unit from the school.

Not bad, but expected a little better...
I purchased this trumpet in July 2011 for my son going into 6th grade. I am a former Bach Strad owner in the 80's. While this instrument looks great and sounds OK, the valves aren't crisp no matter how you oil them. Also, one of the spit valves does not seal well against the cork (spring is off and can't be adjusted properly). It is serving my son well (always a top chair out of 20) and I will keep it. But I expected a little better paying significantly more than other beginner trumpets out there to get the Bach name due to my past experience.

Bach TR500 Student's Trumpet
Wow what can I say, bought it for my daughter for college. Great looking trumpet and have a great sound. I have a 1958 Conn Director Trumpet and the tone are the same. Great Buy.

Great beginner trumpet
The model I got was a TR-600 a couple years back; I hear that it's a similar model. Anyways, it's still clearly a very similar model based on the price. I got mine in fifth grade for band and it has lasted me until high school. The sound is okay, but not great. However, you get what you pay for. For the price, the sound wasn't a disappointment at all. It gets the job done, and you don't want to buy a fancy trumpet without knowing how long you'll be in band. The most important thing about this trumpet is that it's very well built and I have never had a single problem with it. The finish has worn off quite a bit since I first got it and due to dents the sound has gotten fuzzier and more distant, but it still works and nothing has ever been mechanically wrong with it aside from the fact that I can't pull out the second valve tuning slide-but who cares? It's not like Bs and F sharps tend to be out of tune on a B flat trumpet. Now that I'm getting into more advanced bands, it's time to upgrade. This trumpet has served me very well for four years and I recommend it to beginners.

So Ive had this trumpet for 3&1/2 years now..
And It still plays just fine . It is obviously not as good as the strad. But Im in marching and honors band and orchestra and it has been an amazing horn for all three. You really couldnt get a better trumpet for a better deal, even though it was about 290 when I purchased it..
