Clear sound
Absolutely fantastic soudcard. Much better then my previous Creative x-fi extreme pci-e. The sound is really clear and lots of option of bass management. Connected to my Sony QS Receiver with good floorstanding speakers. If you respect good audio and music then this card will do nice job. Ps. The backplates are not gold like on the images but it's not a big issue.

Great sound but I had a nightmare installing it.
First things first; the sound quality from this card is excellent. This was replacing an on-board Realtek card on a Dell XPS 8930 with Creative Gigaworks T40 speakers, running Windows 10. The improvement in sound quality was very noticeable; I use Peter's Equaliser for the APO Configuration Extension (PEACE) for playing music with Foobar. My old card used to "max out" the Peak Value Meter in PEACE very easily and would then distort and sound very poor. WIth this card the Peak never gets above 50 or 60% and the quality is excellent. I have it set at 24 bit, 192000Hz and it seems to be fine with that. I've used it in some games too with good results. I don't have surround sound speakers so haven't tested any of that performance. Now the bad. I had a NIGHTMARE trying to install this. The documentation you get with the card is almost nonexistent and you have to dig around online to find proper manuals and even when you do they are not that great. The telephone numbers for support on the Terratek websites I looked at don't work so you are sort of on your own. Fitting the card is easy enough, one empty PCIe slot and two case slots are required. The problem came when trying to get the card recognised and install the software. The software that came with the card just kept crashing during install. I found an FTP site from Terratek that had an updated driver on it, downloaded that. That ran but said there was no card connected, then it worked then it crashed. Then the card disappeared again for some reason, but I reinstalled, rebooted, ran the installation a second time and it seems to be fine. I'm not a geek level techie but this task isn't something that I would expect to have trouble with. I've paraphrased the experience somewhat, and nobody else seems to have had problems with installation, but it was very frustrating. The end result however is excellent. Later Edit: The day after writing this review I restarted my PC and the card was no longer installed. I tried to run the software again and it kept crashing my machine and forcing me into hard reboots to get back which eventually ended up going into System Restore and then ending up where I couldn't even boot up! I managed to restore from a recovery USB drive and do a factory reset and then tried to isntall the card again but the software still crashes (but at least it doesn't destroy my entire OS now!). I am in contact with Terratec support but if this doesn't get corrected I will have to return the card. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8930. The Stop Code I get is "System Thread Exception Not Handled" in portcls.sys (which is one of the audio drivers and seems to be an indication of conflict with the onboard sound, which was disabled when I was trying to install the software). Any comments or ideas would be welcome. Final Update: As this card still would not install correctly on my machine I have had to return it to Amazon. I have a new, relatively high-spec PC running Windows 10 but the drivers/software for this card just would not work with it so I will have to find a different one. Terratek support tried to help out, but the rate of progress was quite slow as we had to email back and forth and I would only get a reply once every couple of days.

Great value Product
First things first _ thank you Amazon for light speed; express paid for delivery to my village _ 16 Hours! (from order Entry) and received on a Saturday! Please Note that this card has an included Expansion card as well! This card contains both coax and tos link optical : in and out ports. Please make sure you have two case slots free - 1 PCIE express slot and one case slot free nearby, which does not need an on-board connection. This is accommodated BY THE INCLUDED connection cable. The other card picture on amazons website , contains the required analogue connections for 7:1 audio This does support Windows 8 As to performance , will modify this review, when fitted over Christmas - Very well packed. Update May 2014 Absolute astounding card at a fraction of the price - compared to the more well known competition/ easy to set up and run - works fine with Train Simulator 2014 Supports speakers with a coax input as well as 7 channel analoge sound. Works fine with Windows 8.1 x64 bit - very pleased with purchase

Really good, high quality soundcard!
Really good soundcard! Beats the competiton hands-down. Soundblaster and Asus should be aware of this sound card and worried. Solid drivers, excellent sound and plenty of settings to play with if you don't like what you hear. As a bit of an audiophile I like my music full and as real as i can hear it and this card delivers. Orchestral, Rap, Classic Rock Reggae, you name it this thing plays it beautifully. It's German and the company that makes it obviously does have a passion for true sound. I had two great cards before this one (M-Audio and AudioTrak) and I'd say this one would give them a run for their money. And speaking of money, I ordered this from the US (Brit living in Colorado now) and all in it was 74 bucks. Do not even consider the alternatives, get this card for great sound.

Installed first time great sound
I saw the other reviews but my motherboard saw and installed the card After disabling the on board audio everything was just fine The sound quality is great I have not installed the bundled software as I have professional software which saw the card immediately So far so good

Great quality!
Fantastic sound card, easy install and with no hardware problems. My only issue is that it does not have a mic in at the back like most sound cards, however this was resolved by connecting the front port mic to the card.

Excellent upgrade from SB Audigy
Received as a Christmas present as a replacement for my old Soundblaster Audigy I'm very pleased with this card so far. It installed easily on Windows 7 64 bit with the included cd and performs beautifully with my Teufel surround sound speakers. It's nicely made too, has a feeling of quality. Note you'll need 2 free PCI slots, and don't panic if Windows doesn't say it's usual found new hardware message - mine was completely oblivious until I put the cd in, but then picked it up fine.

Almost perfect
Little bit of noise which is annoying but less than the rubbish chipset on my mobo Win 10 drivers work fine even on Version 2004

Also trotz einiger unverdient schlechter Bewertungen Bestellt.
