The Matterport Pro3 is a game-changing upgrade from its predecessor, and after extensive use in real-world environments, I can confidently say it delivers on nearly every front. Whether you're in real estate, architecture, construction, or digital twin creation, this camera is built to elevate your professional 3D capture capabilities. First off, the quality and reliability are on a whole new level. Compared to the previous Pro2, the Pro3 handles both indoor and outdoor environments effortlessly. One of the biggest frustrations with earlier models was outdoor scanning—sunlight, temperature, and distance all posed significant limitations. With the Pro3, Matterport has finally solved that. The new LiDAR-based system is incredibly accurate, capable of scanning long distances (up to 100 meters) with exceptional precision, even in daylight. Portability is another massive improvement. The Pro3 is noticeably lighter and smaller than the Pro2, which makes it far easier to carry around, especially during long scanning sessions or when moving between multiple properties. If you're someone who scans frequently or needs to be mobile—this change alone is worth the upgrade. It fits easily into a compact case and sets up in seconds. In terms of scanning performance, it’s clear Matterport put serious work into enhancing speed and fidelity. Scans are faster, point cloud generation is more precise, and the resulting 3D models are smoother and more detailed. You can now cover large commercial or residential properties in a fraction of the time. The accuracy has clearly improved, which makes alignment and processing easier and more reliable. You spend less time fixing alignment issues and more time delivering professional-quality walkthroughs. However, the only real downside—and it's worth noting—is the battery life. The Pro3 battery lasts noticeably less than the Pro2. It’s less than half the capacity, which means you’ll either need to purchase extra batteries or plan your scans accordingly. For small or medium-sized projects, this isn’t a dealbreaker. But for all-day use or larger properties, it's essential to have spares on hand. In terms of cost, yes—it’s a premium-priced piece of equipment. But for professionals, the improvements in performance, portability, and scan accuracy make it a justifiable investment. You're not just buying a camera—you're investing in a complete 3D capture ecosystem that improves efficiency and output quality. Final Verdict: If you're currently using a Matterport Pro2 or any older 3D camera and are on the fence about upgrading, don’t hesitate. The Pro3 is more than just an iteration—it’s a significant evolution. Despite the battery tradeoff, it delivers unparalleled performance in nearly every other category. Matterport has truly pushed the envelope with this one. Highly recommended for professionals who demand quality, speed, and flexibility in their 3D capture workflow.

I have been using the Pro 2 for three years now. I scan big buildings (10K to 60K SqFt). I bought the Pro 3 one month ago and It is really a great improvement. Much faster and more accurate. The fact that you can scan the exteriors is awesome. The design is pretty nice. I don't like that it has a little lid to cover the lens because when you take it off, it does not stick to the camera so it is easy to lose. Also, the cover should have space to put the battery so you can store the camera without the battery on (as recommended by Matterport). But those are just some minor design suggestions. I will keep trying it and update if I found any downsides, but so far a love it.

We are new to the world of the Virtual Tour but this piece of equipment is outstanding. Very simple to use, great imagery produced and its been solid ever since purchase. We just need to get more clients on board to be able to push it more. Thanks Matterport.

The Matterport Pro 2 takes great interior images. The only drawback is that you can't do tours outside during bright times of the day. You can still do 360 shots and link them to your tour, but you won't be able to create an exterior tour. Some users have had luck taking exterior tour shots early in the morning or at dusk but I haven't tried that yet. I use the matterport in combo with a year old Samsung tablet. From what I've read, you get the fastest processing when using it with an Ipad pro and can shave off around 30 seconds per shot.
