Marine Aquatabs are for larger water containers or tanks: use 1 tablet per 4 gallons
I plan to use these Aquatabs for emergency water purification. Each 397mg tablet will treat four gallons (18 liters) in 30 minutes. We have a number of blue 7-gallon Aqua-Tainers, used for camping, so two tablets per container should do the trick. This Aquatabs refill kit includes a bottle of 50 SenSafe free-chlorine-sensing strips. This is a nice feature as the strips can be used to verify the safety of stored water. My strips have an expiry date of 06/20/2025, or 15.5 months from date of delivery. Their website says that Aquatabs in tubs, like these in the Marine refill kit, won’t expire for three years. However, my bottles’ expiration dates were 12/2025, or 21.5 months from date of delivery. The website says that Individually foil-wrapped strips of Aquatabs are also available, and they don’t expire for five years. For emergencies, it’s good to have a supply of large water containers on hand. I plan to keep a few filled bottles ready, then use Aquatabs to purify extra water as needed. FEMA recommends 1 gallon of water per person per day, so for each week we’ll need at least one 7-gallon Aqua-Tainer of water and two Aquatabs for each family member. Plus extra water for pets and cleaning. Five-gallon buckets might work in a pinch; just fill each bucket ⅘ of the way up, and use one tablet. Aquatabs are effective at neutralizing viruses, bacteria, and Giardia, but they are not effective against Cryptosporidium. If Crypto is a concern (i.e. if water is from lakes, rivers, streams, or rain gutters where fecal contamination is possible), then an additional step to filter the water and remove Crypto cysts will be needed. To prepare drinking water, try a three-stage process: 1) let water stand overnight, or use alum for speedier results, so sediment falls to bottom; 2) take the cleared water and treat it with Aquatabs to kill most pathogens, then let water settle again; 3) take the cleared and cleaned water and filter it with a filter labeled “NSF 53” or “NSF 58” (plus the words “cyst reduction” or “cyst removal”) to remove the remaining Cryptosporidium spores.

Good to have for emergencies as well...
This is good to have in emergencies as drinkable water quite often becomes scarce, and a lot is needed if you're using freeze dried or dehydrated emergency food. This is a decent supply of tablets that will get you through a short-term emergency or allow you time to figure things out in a longer-term emergency.

Great for RVs and Water Containers, Highly Recommended
If you are familiar with Aquatabs, you know they are used by numerous organizations around the world for water purification, as well as backpackers, campers, and wilderness enthusiasts. An all around excellent and reliable manufacturer of easy and effective water treatment solutions. These are no different, and they certainly live up to the reputation. If you have an RV or any other situation where you have a water system that gets only occasional use, these are a great solution when it comes to periodic (and necessary) refreshing and sanitizing of the system. Even though these are very simple and straightforward to use, I would suggest checking their website for additional information depending on your situation/setup - it's always important to be informed and conscientious when it comes to potable water. Beyond that, these are excellent, trustworthy, and dependable when it comes to your water supply and system. Highly recommended.

Very good!
These purification tablets work well. Just be sure you're starting with a clean tank and clean water and create a schedule for maintenance dosage. This brand is high quality and will always be my go to purifying tablets.

A Vital Part of any Preparedness Kit
Having drinkable water is vital to survival! This item should be in everyone's kit. Whether boating, camping, traveling off the beaten path, etc. - Drinking sources free of harmful bacteria and viruses is paramount, so I got these. The shelf life of these is two years from the date of manufacture, but they should keep longer than that in the proper conditions. However, know you aren't getting these as soon as they come off the press. There is a batch date on the label which is the expiration, and there is a sticker that says when they need to be used which is their sell-by date. The two numbers can be confusing, so it was worth clarifying. In any case, they'll still work after the label says they expire for the most part. It's always good to have tablets like these as an option because you can treat up to 400 gallons per bottle.

A MUST have for Preppers!!
I’m not a big conspiracy theory guy however, I also believe in being ready for the unexpected. For that reason, we have an emergency pantry that is stocked with food, medical supplies and now drinking water. Have two of these 55 gallon water drums to supply us with a decent amount of drinking water in the event of an emergency. These tablets should also help us should we need more and we have to purify spring or pond water for any reason. These claim to have a two-year shelflife and will make water safe to drink within 30 minutes of adding the tablets to the water. Odds are that we will never need to worry about any of this but, it’s a nice feeling to know that you are already in the event that you do.

Good for RV's and emergency prep too
These Aquatabs Marine kits and refills may be advertised for boats but they work just as well for RV's and they're good to have around for water purification in emergencies like natural disasters (or, heaven forbid, war). I've used the smaller tablets when hiking but those tablets only do a quart at a time while these do 4 gallons each, so they are better sized for vehicles with clean water tanks like boats and RV's, or for base camps. These are easy to use and from a well-recognized brand. I'm happy to have them.
