Ever since my family got its first microwave oven some 45 years ago, I have made a constant practice of covering food with waxed paper, both to hold in moisture, otherwise lost from steam and to contain the splatter caused by the inevitable microwave explosions. These silicone covers do the job just as well and will ultimately pay for themselves by saving on the cost of waxed paper. The covers are the diameter of a dinner plate and can be folded and unfolded to various heights. They are vented to allow some steam to escape, but not so much that the food dries out. But the functionality doesn't end there. Flip it over and it can be used as a collander to rinse fruits and vegetables or to drain pasta. It can also be used as a cover to keep food warm; for instance, when the meat comes off the grill before the vegetables are ready on the stove. Cleanup is also easy with soapy water. They're probably dishwasher safe, but there are no markings to that effect and the two covers were shrinkwrapped together with no instruction sheet.

Purchased this splatter cover for the microwave and I love it!! Quality is good and it expands to fit deeper dishes. The look is nice also. Heat retention is great while microwaving. The thickness makes it sturdy.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I thought it was a good idea to keep that microwave clean but I wish it was a little deeper for plates that have food that's a little bit higher

Like this splatter cover enough to reorder & give one to a friend. East tto store although I leave it in the microwave. It washes up easily & doesn't retain odors like some plastic formulations do. Keeps the microwave simple to keep spiffy!

Works great. Keeps the food from splattering all over the microwave and because it traps steam and heat released during cooking, your food will be heated quicker and your food will not dry out.

So far, it has worked fine for just one item, but I'm wondering if I have a large container that I'm wanting to use if I would just set the lid over the top of it even if the bottom can't be sealed on the bottom of the microwave?

Stains easily (spaghetti sauce) and hard to get out. When I put it over my plate it makes my plate hotter than my food.
