Definitive work on Series One construction and components
Long out of print and almost as expensive secondhand as a Series One, its a pleasure to be able to get hold of this legendary volume. If your one of the hardy few to have a Series One then you wont need any encouragement from me to buy this.James Taylor examines all the versions from 80" to 109" and provides the authorative guide to everything from petrol tank colour to steering box materials so if you have an interest in autheticity or simply Land Rover heritage then this is a must buy. Dont expect lists of part numbers and production runs, the information is presented as a very readable description format and is well illustrated. There are also sections on special equipment and the Brockhouse Trailer.On the downside you may find out that your 'original' Series One isnt quite as original as you thought - mine is clearly a mongrel!

Good book
I have owned a series one Landrover for 15 years and recently bought this book.It has taught me many things I didn,t know and made me glad I have kept my Landrover original.Yeah a good book that I will refer to lots in future and a perfect addition to owning a Series one Landrover.

If you are interested in or are restoring a Series 1 Landrover this book is for you. Gives lots of details and background on the vehicles too!

Was keen to find out about military 88", and ...
Was keen to find out about military 88", and it has a section on that. Just two sentences! Book has lots of details where the author has got his hands on a restored example, next to no details (and no photos) where a restored example wasn't to hand. Particularly disappointing from the point of view of Land Rovers supplied to the Ministry of Supply for military, and civil purposes (especially the 12V fiitted for radio versions of which many hundreds supplied to military and civil defence).

Phantastisches Buch und die Serie I Bibel. Das Thema der alten Land Rover aus der Anfangszeit ist schon mehrfach beleuchtet worden aber dies ist definitiv die umfassende Bearbeitung.

Taylor writes a great book.. this is the standard for anyone restoring a series one.. Covers 80", 86" and 88".. very British,, US readers may not understand all the terms, The best land rover book.. I source this daily.. Great photos, and lots of information.
