Hi! My son's height is 5.9'', which size should we go for, the standard or the oversize?

It’s difficult to answer that because I haven’t tried the standard size. I’m 5.6 1/2 and I had about 1/2 extra arm length. The sleeves stay up though with the ribbed cuff. For myself, I would order a standard size. The oversized seems to be made for maybe a 3x size man. But some people like the extra room, like wearing a big blanket. I would rather something like this to be huge than too small though.
