Perfect fit and function
About 6 months ago I used this pressure balance valve to repair my Grohe shower faucet, that was about 25 years old. I'm happy to say that it was perfect fit, and it functions like new. Is ~$100 worth it? I'd say absolutely--yes. I'm giving it 5 starts all around because if it had not worked, I was facing an expensive project of installing a whole new faucet system. The part itself looks well made, and identical in size & shape to the old valve. The old valve was totally ruined, with bits of broken plastic inside, and there was no change for repair (I did take it apart to check). It looked like the valve failed just from the age of the internal plastic parts. As for installation, I studied videos on YouTube which helped a lot. I'd say that if you are mechanically inclined, logical and a bit patient, you can install it yourself. Physically, it installed with little effort, but it was a but tricky adjusting it to get the full range of temperature control. I hope these comments help you.

GROHE product
I had leaky shower head problem so I googled then found this GROHE replacement. Works well with my GROHE shower valve. No more leaking. Should have bought this three years ago instead of calling plumber to fix another show head in my house. The installation steps are exactly same as Youtube video described. Perfect DIY project for handy home owner. The only thing I noticed was the water flow from the shower head was slower than the original one. Not sure if the Cartridge is slight different design causing that.

So far, so good.
Apparently, the company has a lifetime guarantee so if you can find your receipt (we couldn’t from 30 years ago) they will replace it for free.We needed a faster fix anyway so we went to a local parts dealer and they wanted $355 for this part! 😳Came here and saw good reviews. Looks like part is from same manufacturer. Comes with their name on the box and all. Looks identical, fits perfectly and functions very well. It’s been in about a week now so hopefully we won’t have an issues in the near future. 🤞🤞So far, very happy. Saved a lot of money. Problem solved.

Grohe 47080000 Pressure Balance Cartridge
The most difficult task associated with the purchase of this cartridge was figuring out which model I required. In my case the fixture was manufactured by a small company with no web site, and the only information I had to work with was the name "Tempress II" on the brass valve body. Information provided on the Tempress web site indicates there are two versions of the "Tempress II" - the more common "TII", and the less common "TIIEF". These two versions use different cartridge styles, and the main distinguishing feature is that the "TII" cartridge has two small pegs on the rear of the cartridge, whereas the "TIIEF" cartridge has two small "wings" on the sides of the cartridge next to the water inlet ports. The cartridge does have a part number molded on its body (which many reviewers here have provided) but that is of little help, since there seem to have been many part numbers assigned to this same part during its manufacturing lifetime. Suffice it to say that if you have a Tempress II valve body, and you are looking for the "TII" cartridge, then Grohe 47080000 is what you need. If you are looking for the "TIIEF" cartridge, then Grohe 47157000 is what you need. There is a very helpful review previously posted here which points out "leaky valve" problems that will not be fixed by installing a new cartridge, specifically (a) water leaking around the shaft of the cartridge where it exits the brass valve body or (b) water leaking from around the sides of the brass valve body. These problems require other fixes, which that reviewer has described in detail. The most common problem people need to fix is that the shower faucet continues to run after being turned to its full "off" position - and replacing the cartridge will solve that problem.Installing this replacement cartridge is straight forward. During installation be sure to (a) apply silicone grease provided with this product to the o-rings on the sides of the cartridge, (b) replace the large o-ring behind the brass cover of the valve body with the new o-ring provided and apply silicone grease, and (c) apply silicone grease to the cartridge shaft where it passes through the brass cover of the valve body.
