The Elite Gourmet 2-Slice Cool Touch Toaster**is a pretty average toaster, but it gets the basic job done. It has 6 browning levels, which is nice if you like to control how light or dark your toast gets. In everyday use, it works reliably and toasts bread the way you’d expect without anything complicated. One feature I really like is the cancel button, which lets you stop the toasting early if the bread is getting done faster than expected. It’s simple, but it’s convenient and something I end up using often. The crumb tray is another good feature. It slides out easily, so cleaning the toaster is quick and simple. The only downside is that it fills up fairly fast, so you’ll need to empty it regularly if you use the toaster often. The 1.25-inch wide slots are helpful for thicker breads or bagels. They aren’t extremely wide, but honestly they feel about right—I can’t imagine them being much narrower without causing problems. Looks clean. I have the black one which goes well with black appliances. Overall, it’s nothing fancy, but it’s easy to use, easy to clean, and does the basic job of toasting bread well. I got this for my mom. She's 94, and was toasting her bread in a pan on the stovetop. She's getting forgetful and I worried she would leave the stove on after she was done. This toaster fits all the needs she has. Is it perfect for everyone? No. Toaster is inexpensive. The exterior sides do stay cool enough to touch, especially if you only run it once. The top should not be touched after running. The downside to this (remember inexpensive) toaster is browning is not even. It's not horrible, but, for us, one side is browner than the other. Also, this toaster handles two slices and both sides don't brown exactly alike. I suspect this is a toaster by toaster thing. Some will do well, some won't. This is OK for me, because my mom only toasts one slice at a time and she can adjust the browning to an acceptable level. Anyone that toasts two slices at a time might have a harder time getting both slices to the same level of browning. It's functional for the right sized bread. It works well for the "normal" slice of bread. The wide format slices like Oroweat brand breads will not do well in this toaster. It can do thinner bagels. Like everything, your satisfaction with this depends on how you use it. It does what I need in an acceptable way at a low price. 4 month update: still working well.

My current toaster was all metal, heavy and bulky. I wanted something smaller. This toaster is great. It is plastic, very light, about half the width and toasts perfectly. The crumb tray slides out easily. I can store it in a cupboard with no problem. I am very happy with my purchase.
