Mushroom substrate and casing.
Hello, I just made another purchase using Amazon Prime and bought some Out-grow products. Quality and provides great results for my fruits. I usually make my purchases from Out-gross website but I decided to go the Amazon Prime route this time around. 4 bags of mushroom substrate and 5 bags of casing. (Sterilized) In the past have have just purchased their 50/50 wheat straw and bulk. I never had the need for a casing. I am confident with their product but I asked for my items to be placed in one box. Each bag is clearly labeled casing and substrate. I'm just a bit confused with the product inside each bag. The casing has what looks to be some wheat straw, bark or mulch and has an ash and leathery like smell. Confused with the bulk bags too. It has a fresh smell and light brown color compared to the casing. Light and fluffy almost like Coco Coir and horse manure (hopefully) appearance but could be pest moss. I'm not sure... Like I mentioned the bags are clearly labeled but the casing to me looks like it could be the bulk and the bulk could be the casing. I hope I am wrong but I am sure to find out soon because casing that I just purchased and applied will hopefully be happy and sprout some tomatoes soon. Like I stated before I usually purchase from your Out-grow website. I personally like your 50/50 sterilized bulk, your Coco Coir, also your 1\2 gallon horse manure and have had amazing fruits and flowers.

Good Sh!t !! Literally! 'Dung loving' mushroom cultivators , look no furthur!!
Was a little pricey with shipping cost, but I would say that despite the cost the quality of substrate I received was worth every penny of what I paid for. I mixed 2lbs of colonized grain spawn with 2 Lbs of substrate (1:1 ratio) in a mono-tub setup and within 10 days the substrate was fully colonized.. It went on to produce 5 flushes of beautiful mushrooms that were magically delicious 🍄🤤

Good substrate
This is good substrate for medicinal shrooms. I have had contam issues with other brands. I have good results with this. I wish i could give 4.5 stars but going with 4. The reason for the not perfect rating is the sub was just slightly too wet. Not bad and it worked fine but felt that is about two steps past field capacity.

PH BALANCED
Just a tad dry, though I left mine out for a few months so that could be the culprit, but always be sure to check to see if your sub is at field capacity before you dive in. Great product when you’re in a bind or don’t have the resources to make it yourself. Just bought another and a mushroom casing for my next monotub.

Too dry
So disappointed. For one, its a very small amount of substrate. Two, it came to me way too dry, as did their casing product as well. Decided to give it a shot anyway as I was pressed for time and space, thus my only reason for buying. Regretting that decision now. Was advertised ready to use out of the bag. Now I'm having to screw around with moisture post-spawning, things are barely colonizing (way too slow), and will probably fail on these projects. Last time I make the mistake of buying anything from them. It's not even the money, it's the matter of my time and energy that has been wasted on what is now a doomed project. They did offer a refund, but trying to avoid a trip to the store/post office was the whole reason for buying in the first place.

Very expensive.
I didn't really look at the dimensions and the weight is not listed in the product description. You can get manure based substrate from many other reliable sources for half of this price. Even with shipping one pound is still about two dollars cheaper from other vendors. Order 5 pounds and it is literally less than half the price almost anywhere else. Now I have one 1:1 ratio in colonization with three pounds of inoculated grain on hold. This will be my last purchase from this vendor for anything myco. 15 bucks a pound for manure? Really? I was expecting at least 2 pounds for that price. Shop around for at least 2 minutes and save a bundle.

Mushroom magic!
I started a bunch of PF style cakes using vermiculite, brown rice flour & spores in 1/4pt jars, then took the cakes & crushed them up in the bag, mixing thoroughly. After mixing it up, I poured it into 2 small plastic containers (approx. the size of a shoebox) & cased them with straight vermiculite. After about 2 weeks the substrate was colonized enough to start fruiting. It took about another week before I saw the first pins, and then another week before the first mushrooms were mature enough to be picked. These are very convenient to use & seem to be the PERFECT amount to use in the small plastic tubs I have. I would happily purchase them again to use them in the same way I noted above.

Great , sterile
Nicely packaged , still usable after 2 months without any refrigeration in the California heat. Update : placed spawn into substrate , with minimal effort to keep anything sterile (laziness on my part...) still no contamination at all! Pretty surprised actually considering the substrate is at least months old unrefrigerated in a closet before use.
