Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 4thEd

Excellent rules set - this is probably the best of the alternative rpg sets out there for d&d gamers. It's got everything you'll need, well laid out and logically ordered - but this is a verion of the well known rules, not a clone copy - improvements have been made to streamline a game and reduce the complexity without reducing the playability in any way. This is the rpg game you should be buying.

Having started playing in 1976 using the three books this is most definitely revisiting is much simpler than current offerings and it very refreshing.

I used to play BEXMI DnD back in the day, and loved it. I’ve tried it out with newer players, but no one can ever get their head round the THAC0 system, which is understandable! This system basically runs exactly like the old BEXMI but with the armour class the right way round. The game is as deadly as the old school stuff used to be, unless you want to modify the rules, which this system is great for.The books are well written, the information clear and concise. There’s a ton of expansion material on their website as well as a host of modules should you want them. If you don’t like the idea of paying for this book you can download it for free on said website (just google them). What’s not to love?

Not much to say here. It's BFRPG. It's cheap. It's OSR. It's well written.If you are new to OSR or got the OSR bug, get this one. It's a very good starting point.

Basic Fantasy are a great set of OSR rules based on B/X. Print at virtually cost price is a no brainer. Fantastic support from their forums if you need it to.

Absolutely love this game, everything coming in one book as well? Perfect.

Back to what rpgs should be like, none of the complicated rule sets like modern ones have, with fun, fast gameplay at heart.Value for money is excellent too.

Cheap as chips but a complete self contained rpg based on Basic D&D. Brought back happy memories.
