a fantastic shoe with NO break in period.
These are really the first hiking shoe I have ever bought so you can't really take my review to hart but with that said. I only buy the best and research the hell out of something before I buy this. I tried on a ton of hiking shoes before finding these and let me tell you that you won't find a more comfortable, light weight shoe that disappears on your feet. What makes these unique that I enjoy is that the paring is not from the insole but from the bottom up. The base of the shoe is a soft rubber that cushions your feet like no other. I'm a huge Nike fan and free run shoe lover to the extreme. I'm an inventory manager and shipper and am on my feet from the time I walk in to the time I leave. And I would recommend anyone doing the same to wear these instead of a running shoe or walking shoe these shoes disappear on your feet and from someone that is on their feet day in and day out. That is something you are looking for. The waterproof leather stands the tests and the support on your feet climbing around on things and hiking are substantial (nothing like a high top of course) but is great hiking shoe. The heel fits perfect with a wider toe pocket that allows for the balls of your feet to breath and compress and contract with restriction. I wear these as a daily shoe as well and would also recommend that as well for people. I keep saying it but it's a great shoe for daily use to the extended hike. Well worth the cost

I took a chance on these and am really glad I did
I have had Merrells before and really like them, but always thought they ran a bit small. My normal size is 9 D and the Merrell Moabs I ordered a couple of years ago were 9.5 D and fit about right with pretty snug toes. The reviews of the Blazes indicated they were true to size and maybe a bit big, so I went with the 9 D in these, and the fit is perfect. Nice and snug in the heel and midfoot, but very roomy in the forefoot. The key is that the structure of the shoe in the midfoot is really prominent, making them very supportive and solid for hiking and keeps the roomy toe box from feeling sloppy (the ball of your foot won't shift around on uneven terrain). There is a fairly pronounced roll off, or toe off, as you progress in your stride forward, so the shoes don't flex a lot, which might seem like a bad idea, but in fact, once you start walking, the shoes work perfectly. Also, the laces only really work to tighten the shoes on the top two eyes. You might be able to tighten the laces lower down, but the tongue has a little centering strip that makes those tightening adjustments sort of hard to do. The important point here is that you really don't need to make those tightening adjustments! The shoes just fit perfectly and tightening them at the top is all you need to do to get a snug fit that will keep your feet from shifting forward in the shoe while descending. Very impressive design, very stable, and very, very kind to the toes. I'm going to see if my wife wants a pair, as she always complains about toe boxes that are either too tight or too sloppy. And I might get a pair of the Blaze boots for myself, too!

Nice shoe. Comfortable. But why are the laces so short?
Nice shoe. Comfortable. im sorry the Merrell all-out Blaze does not have the removable foot bed inserts found on other Merrell shoes. I think the ones with the removable inserts are a bit more comfortable. But they fit well. Sturdy enough. I've only had them a week and my feet feel more comfortable, less painful, when I get home from working all day on a hard concrete floor. I have to wonder why the shoelaces are so short, was Merrell trying to save money? I have heard that comment before hear about other Merrell shoes. I cannot double knot them so they keep coming untied but maybe that is just me and I need to tie them better LOL

These seemed comfortable out of the box- I'm a 12
Frustrated by these shoes. I've worn nothing but Merrell for hiking for the last 25 years, and most of that time was covered by the same one pair of boots that I had resoled numerous times. I've always needed the wide toe box for which Merrell is notorious. These seemed comfortable out of the box- I'm a 12.5 2E typically but have always worn 13s. An hour on the trail and I was regretting buying these- they're simultaneously too big and too narrow. To keep from sliding around in them I have to lace them down really tight, but then they hurt across the width of my foot. Obliviously, I can't return them now. So they will have to be for light duty only- as I can't count on them for the bounding, scurrying, and leaping that typifies my hiking. On a positive note, they are constructed well, very lightweight, and look pretty good.

Worth every penny!
Amazing shoes. I had been contemplated ordering these for a long time, but wasn't too keen on dropping the large chunk of cash. Finally, I caved and got them and I couldn't be happier with my decision. These shoes are incredibly lightweight but feel so strong and substantial. The lowcut gives a nice look to the shoe and gives me the additional agility that I lose when wearing high cut boots. These shoes are great through puddles and snow (As long as its not above the ankle lol) I haven't had any wetness inside my shoe yet, and I've used these snowshoeing multiple times. The Vibram sole is incredible and grips pretty much everything. The shoes fit true to size with a bit of a roomy toe box which I actually really like. Overall, these shoes do exactly what I want on trails and tough terrain, feel more comfortable than any other shoe I've ever owned, and look sweet. If you're on the fence, just get them!
