Perfect
This is a great reel that I would put up against a penn any day...Smooth casting, durable in saltwater, super light for a 5000 series reel. Looks badass.

Smoooooth as butta...
One of my passions is surf fishing in So. Calif. As many know, surf fishing is hard on gear. Salt water brought in on the fishing line tends to find it's way into the internals of any reel. KastKing's Sharky proprietary sealing systems claims to prevent this to a measurable degree. There is a fella on You Tube that has intentionally abused his KastKing by fully immersing, dragging thru salt water on every trip for more than a year on an earlier Sharky model. He's buried in beach sand more times than I can count. After a full year of this intentional abuse, when opened up, there were but a few drops of water and virtually NO corrosion inside. The main, anti-reverse and bail trip gears were still in perfect condition. If that isn't a testimonial to the seals of the Sharky model, I don't know what else is???I've been using the KastKing braids for more than two years now, find it was the tenacity, strength and sensitivity to match any of the popular brand names. Just recently tried the new Pro 9 braid and the co-polymer lines. Very please with both. This is my 2nd KastKing Sharky 3. A 5000 series on a 10 ft. Hurricane Heavy rod or on a Med. Heavy Shimano for bigger surf game fish. I am amazed at the casting distance these combos allow. On the 10 foot rod, I can throw a 1/2-3/4 oz lure up to 80 yards or more. Now, following the trend of light weight surf fishing pioneered by Bill Varney, a Sharky 3 2000 series on a 9 ft. Fenwick Steelhead/Salmon rodfor lighter surf fish like perch, mackerel, and croakers. Casting with a short leader 1/4 oz Carolina rig, KastKing 15Lb. SuperKast 9 and smallhooks for Gulp sandworms or grubs I can cast 60-70 yards out. Often right before the outside breakers, the inland shore troughs where surf fish like to feed. Unbelievable I can throw something so light so far but I feel this is the quality of the line, the reel and the rod combo.Like the many others have mentioned, the Sharky is an incredibly smooth casting and even better retrieving reel. Smooth doesn't begin to describe how easily. how smoothly these reels work. Better than even some hi end reels costing 2-3 times as much and more.If you are looking to get into some decent fishing gear without the high cost of big name brands, you'll be quite surprised and happy with KastKing. the jury's till out on long term support if/when the reels need some TLC. I can still buy parts for older Mitchel, Garcia and Penn reels. I hope down the road this is the case with the KastKing products.

Geed reel, good value.
Good reel, good price. Not my favorite but perfectly functional. It casts well, retrieves well. No bail problems. I put 20# Spider Wire on it and mounted it on a 7’ medium pole. Held up pretty well for the short time I’ve used it. I have caught fish with it.

2nd Kast King purchased
After buying Penn reels I took a chance after reading reviews on the Kast King. I love my first Kast King so much I bought this second reel a week later after a week of fishing on my first Kast King. Great buy for the price and the quality speaks for itself. If you want smooth, search no further, you'll spend half the price of a Penn and be happier. Solid body and smooth action.

Good value
I haven't used this reel for very long. Mid Atlantic weather has been up and down and conditions have limited use to four outs at this time. Reel arrived with an issue and I contacted customer service via email. The customer service representative, Winnie, was responsive and took care of my issue. Given the vastly different time zones and the inherent lag dealing with email, KastKing customer service came through very well. I think the reels are a little smaller in size than comparable reels. I needed a strong reel in about a 2500 size and the Sharkey 3000 fill that niche very well. The reel has more weight to it that a lightened carbon or hybrid metal alloy reel but balance out very well on a 7 foot spinning rod. This ten bearing reel is fairly smooth on the retrieve and the braid I spooled up with laid down nicely and casts smoothly. When fighting a nice largemouth bass, there was no flex in the frame and the cranking remained smooth. Line laydown on the spool was still good with no digging. Bail operation was smooth and consistent. The ball bearings are not high quality but at the price point are more than adequate for this reel. Drag is smooth and consistent. Only time and use as well as some rain, dunkings, and some mud will tell but overall the Sharkey reel is a winner. Now, about that name?

Great little real for the right price
I love this little real on my ultra tight rod. I loaded it up with 10lb braid. Quality build, doesn't feel cheap. I have 4 sharky3 reels. This little guy puts in work, It looks awesome, casts far, reels smooth. Caught a ton of fish with it, drag works great and sounds good. The line spools up perfectly flat top to bottom, no high spots.. the image below is after the whole winter fishing, and it still looks like it was just spooled
