Having had several cheap power supplies fail prematurely in the past, I'd rather pay more for one that will last. The description and good reviews led me to choose this one. I feel good about it so far. It's larger and heavier (13 oz) than my other ones and feels solidly constructed. It's working great for my under counter LED light strips. It's replacing a 2A supply that would get very hot. I went with a higher amperage rating (8A) so it wouldn't have to work so hard and this one doesn't even get warm after several hours of use The voltage measures at a steady 12.25v without load and does not fluctuate at all on the meter. It has a green LED indicator that's not too bright (which is good) and a large ferrite EMI ring on the output. It also comes with a screw terminal attachment, which I don't need but will come in handy for future DIY projects. I'm feeling very optimistic about this purchase.

Used this to convert my solar powered deck lights to 12v LED automotive 1156 lamps. They look very well and I have them on a timer. Update: The power supply failed after about 3 months of use. The load on it was about .5 amps and I had it fused for 1 amp. It should have lasted for along time since it was rated at 8 amps.

Was looking for a UL-listed power supply with enough amperage and this checked the box. I'm using this to power a 5V LED strand using a 75W 12V to 5V DC-DC adapter and it works great. Would purchase other SMPSs from this company in the future.

I purchased two of these 8A adapters after trying a different (cheaper) brand that got very hot with 50% of the rated load. In my quest to find new adapters, I came across these and was delighted to see the reviews that said the adapter remained quite cool even at higher loads. The fact that it's UL listed is also nice (the other brand wasn't). When they arrived, I was excited to try them out. I am using them to power a single strip of 12v LED lights that max out at 5A at full brightness. At 8A, this adapter should be well within its rated spec and should not get hot at all. Consistent with the other reviews, the adapter did not get hot. It was actually barely warm at all and this made me very happy. On the other hand, as I went to check the barrel connector, it was insanely hot. The rubber(?) around the connector was too hot to touch with my fingertips for more than a second and as I got a little closer, I noticed a not so good smell as if something was melting. Upon visual inspection, there didn't seem to be any melting damage, but the fact that it was so hot was a no go for me as it is to be installed in a plastic housing and I didn't want the plastic to melt, more fumes being created from hot plastics/rubber, and/or risk potential fire of some kind (however small a risk that may be). The connector became this hot even with just half the load of the LED strip (2.5A). I contacted the seller/manufacturer and to inquire if these connectors are rated for the 8A that the adapter is and also explained my experience with the very hot connectors under just 2.5A load. Their response was that the heat was normal (no it's not) and that my 2.5A load is "relatively large" (again, no it's not). Out of frustration, I purchased a set of metal barrel connectors rated for 10A. Those arrived and I connected them and tested them with 2.5A load and the full 5A load. The metal connector barely became warm. In summary - great adapter, but I fully recommend you buy your own female barrel connectors because the ones they include are no good unless you expect to only use a tiny, tiny fraction of the 80% of 8A this adapter is rated for.

Worked great for building a 12V wiring harness to run tractor electronics in the house!

I've started believing you have to over-spec power supplies for twice their LED loads to keep them from running hot. Not this one! I ran it for over an hour with a 7.5A load and it got warm but not hot. Plus the power-on delay is under 1 second (not 4 seconds like some losers I sent back). I'm sold! Buying more. NOTE: Another reviewer pointed out how much heat you can get from those standard 12V barrel connectors... and I agree that if you're pulling more than about 5A you should cut off this connector and solder the connections. I've measured in the range of 0.1 ohms per connector junction, which will cost you almost a volt at rated power. If you want full brightness, you don't want 11V to your light strip.

Would not recommend. Only worked for about eight hours. I bought this to power an 8amp radiator fan. It worked well for a day of use, now the brick powers up, but loses power as soon as it's connected to the fan.

I have a portable back massage machine with heater and vibration feature. the power supply that came with it was 12v DC 2.5A. My son when visiting likes to use it. Massaging, vibrating and heating all at the same time. The little 2.5A power supply could not keep up with all that power demand. I am an Electrician and I searched for a 12V power supply with more power. Bingo! came across this power supply that delivers 12V, 8amps with the exact power jack that I needed. More important I ordered it last night and it was delivered this morning. I am ecstatic!!!

I purchased this power supply transformer to power a car deck for a bluetooth boombox build and it worked out perfectly. The adapter that came with this unit allows for a solderless connection and the build quality is excellent. The unit stays pretty cool and was exactly as advertised. Works well for LED strips, the included line adapter makes connecting most wires easy.

Measured no-load voltage was 12.24V. At 2A it was 11.98V and at 4A it was 11.75 Volts.

I bought this power supply because I have a multiple LED strip lights and the power supply that came with it can only associate max of 4 strip lights. I am glad I bought this one it can accommodate up to 100W and very compatible with 12V of my LED. I’m not very familiar with electric stuff, it took some readings of description and so far it is working well! - very easy to use - worth the money
