Small compact and definitely sturdy great little tool for getting in awkward places or if you need for metal detecting, it's lightweight and has a nice design, not very expensive at all the overall functionality is great I do recommend this product.

Decent micro shovel
With it's non-rotting, as wood does, fibreglass shaft and proper quality steel used on the tang and blade and the almost ubiquitous heavy duty plastic handle this is a great little bit of kit and should deal with most situations with ease. Fortunately it is available as a spade or shovel which is good to have that choice. For extra ease of use you may want to sharpen up the edge a little as the shovel head is of a decently thick steel (Spear and Jackson, so is as you'd expect), almost 3mm but haven't measured it to be precise, so if you think you will encounter the odd concealed root or have heavier clay like soil then having a sharpened edge will help tackle the job without too much wrist attack. If you intend to use just to clear snow or similar light duty job (snow = shovel, dirt = spade) then you can use as is, no problem. *Notably, if you do sharpen the blade edge it will most likely remove the coating that has been factory applied to the steel and so expect early onset of oxidation if you do so.The fibreglass shaft is nice and sturdy, all 10/12" of it, and will put up with most if not all jobs expected of a micro-shovel but being fibreglass I, personally, wouldn't expect it to put up with the absolute heaviest of tasks such as a professional-grade site shovel can do when in *continual use (* all day every day which is a different situ than to likely be expected here with the vast majority of people) which tend to be full welded steel throughout but keeping in mind that this is a micro-shovel, not a JCB, and so it will do very well in it's specified tasking. If there is to be an area that may fail then I'm guessing the semi-ubiquitious plastic handle may fail. On other brand spades/fork's this can often be the achilles heel, the sides of the plastic handle can snap suddenly so am hoping this doesn't happen.All-in-all so far a nice little piece of kit that works well within it's design brief and also is compact and light enough to go camping if you choose to. Bargain.

Surprisingly small and heavy
I bought this to shovel gravel from a bulk bag, and for my 7 year old to help in the garden. It is smaller than expected, but very heavy. About the same weight as my similar, full size shovel. So beware about that. But rock solid as a result.

Does exactly what it is made to do .
This is a mighty wee spade. I'm a wee bit vertically challenged myself so it's a grand height for me to use. Anyone taller than a knee high grasshopper might find it too short though. It does exactly what it is made to do and was handy for planting and digging up the ground in my flower beds.So yes if you are just a wee bit over 5 foot this works perfectly.

Needed a small strong shovel to dig a hole for a clothes line post. This did the job perfectly. Will be very useful due to its compact size.

lovely little shovel
Came quickly as usual with Amazon ,I used it immediately as I had some border work to do ,moving plants around and I found it ideal, its easy to use having a pointed blade its smaller and much lighter than my usual spade. Its rather cute and sturdy , its my lastest toy , very pleased. easy to store ,good price..... maybe the handle could be a little longer for tall people.
