work really well. the size is great. don't create sparks. value is just OK. they don't produce heat on their own. they last for enough time to get a log started. they work safely. They smell just ok.

I have used almost every fire starter on the market and Pine Mountain StarterLogg Select-A-Size Firestarting Blocks are unsurpassed. They light quick and easy and stay lit. These starters are long lasting and give a good hot flame. They will light any wood you have indoors or out. I use them indoors and there is never a smell. I suggest you break them in half because you don't really need a full bar. If these weren't available I won't bother to buy any. You won't be let down. Can you tell I love them?

I like these because they are quite easy to use and are very inexpensive. I find them easy to break, by hand, into halves and then into quarters. One quarter is all that is needed to easily start a fire in my fireplace. I only use dry, well seasoned firewood ---damp or green is nearly impossible to start and is very polluting. These can take a 20-30 seconds to light with a lighter, and you have to be careful setting them down in the fire grate--leftover ashes from previous fires quickly put the them out and you have to start over. But these are minor difficulties. They burn a long time and always work if I have the wood positioned correctly (the right amount of air space between logs--enough but not too much).

I use the easy to light, logs to start my fires in my stove. A little tinder and a log and the fire is going!
