Best Book

CMMRS is the best review book for preparing USMLE because it is very simple, funny, easy to understand and have summary tables at the end of each chapter. It also covers Antimicrobial drugs after each section. Has lot of mnemonics and simple diagrams to memorize each pathogen. Anyway it is not sufficient for MBBS students because it doesn't cover the whole General Microbiology topics which has too much weightage on university exams. You need to buy immunology book also as it don't have immunology chapter

Good

a very good book for knowing the basic concepts of microbiology but it is not sufficient for the UG students because it lacks immunology.But along with Ananthanarayanan and panicker's text book of micro this book is very good addition.my advise is study this book along with Ananthanarayanan and panicker's text book .It gives tips to how to remember and pneumonics also.The biggest advantage of this book is it is mainly concept oriented rather than theory(for example why we are using this antibiotic for this organism what is its advantages over others etc)bacterial resistance against the anti microbials is clearly covered (even though it is short still). cons: the main drawback of this book is the appearance of this book is like photocopy of original colored book because this book is fully black and white and the writing looks photocopy rather than printed.

I am loving the time I spend reading microbiology these days because of this book. I can't particularly talk about the coverage of topics by this book because as per Indian standards parasitology and bacteriology needs to be studied more than what is covered in CMMRS. For USMLE too many people say the portion of Immunology is better by Levinson. However, One thing I can surely say, that is it is fun to read. What use is there in reading some text and then forgetting it? Tables are quite good for references and summarising the chapters. The diagrams are good memory aid for retaining a lot what we learn in this book.

this book taught me that microbiology can be fun, it is a HUGE help for PG prep alongside Apurba Shastri's book. the only downside ism its not updated. upside: say hello to all the 20 questions from micro with a smile now.

The easy-to-understand language. The rich content. The diagrams and mnemonics. All are beyond description. Too good.

Its a great book..like the name says its mainly Clinincal..read it alongside books like anantanarayan, baveja..quite helpful.

Easy to read and understand and covers just about everything one needs to know about the subject. Useful as a reference or to study for exams.

This is the best book to study microbiology I have seen so far. It makes understanding the learning matter super easy since e.g. the bacteria and their characteristics are illustrated with funny (memorizable) pictures and well written text. The difference between other books is that you can read one chapter and you'll have to lough out in between.. even though it's still about microbiology :) One might think that the quality of the given information might suffer but this is not the case! So if you are having trouble studying microbiology for e.g. your pre-clinics, this book is the right choice!
