the instruction sheet is almost useless
I gave this a 4 Star because like other posts, I have discovered that the instructions are less than useful. First, there is nothing about how to access the battery compartments on either the sender or receiver units. They each have a sort of mounting bracket that slides off in order to do so. Second, I have found that you have to remove the batteries from the receiver if you want to use the USB cord for powering the unit. The instructions are not clear on this point. The batteries provided are not the re-chargeable type and the receiver does not double as a battery charger. Do not use the USB cord in conjunction with the batteries as it will run down the batteries. The unit is not designed to choose one over the other. This may also cause the internal electronics to be damaged and the receiver to cease working entirely. Third, the system comes with alkaline batteries for both units. Alkaline is fine for the indoor receiver, but not so much for the outdoor unit, particularly if you live where you experience extreme weather conditions throughout the year. (I.E. Texas) Lithium Batteries are the preferred choice for external use as they are less likely to leak and destroy whatever they are powering. I will need to see if I can find Lithium batteries for the sending unit, otherwise I will be changing the batteries a little more often (before they run down completely) in the sending unit to prevent difficulties in the future. Forth, for those who have their mailbox positioned in such a way that the mail truck stops between your mailbox and your house, this type of system will not work. The vehicle will prevent the signal from the sending unit from getting to the receiver. The instructions make no mention of this.8/12/23 After using this unit for a number of weeks now, I have noticed that the system does not always alert when mail is placed in the mailbox. I finally figured out that it was the mail carrier not opening the mailbox door far enough. He does this one-handed thing where he opens the door with his pinky finger while flicking the mail in with thumb and forefinger. I need to catch him and let him know that the door must open beyond the 45-degree tilt to set off the sending unit. If you are finding that you unit works when you open the mailbox but doesn't otherwise alert you when the mail is placed in it, it could be that your mail carrier is not opening the mailbox door far enough.

Goes Off On It’s Own
I really wanted to like this because I like how seemed to be in a video that a customer has posted here. But like some other people have said, it goes off all by itself. I thought maybe the mailman had come but no. I don’t know why it does that? If it didn’t do that, and they had it chime longer than four times, it would be great. It seems not all of them do what this one did, go off on their own, so hopefully they can fix that glitch because I like everything else about it.

Great Alert System
This Long Range Wireless Mailbox Alarm with LED Light Flashing is a great little system. It alerts me every time my delivery box is opened. The only problem is that it's soo sensitive that when it rains on the delivery box, it alerts me. constantly. If I could adjust the sensitivity, that would be great but other than that, It delivers on its promises .

speed of door
people were correct. The instructions are useless and not necessarily for this product. However, the main problem is that the veil alert will not sound if the door is opened and closed too rapidly. It takes more than one or two seconds for the receiver to activate, no matter how far the doors open so if you open it and shut it quickly. It does not send an alert. Otherwise fine

Can NOT figured out how to play "selected " song or music
Out of the box, it plays "You got mail" when the switch is activated. I can NOT figure out how to get it to play one of the selected songs.

Step Saver.
My mailbox is 270, (google map), feet from front door, uphill both ways it seems.About 5 minutes after sticking the transceiver on the inside door it chimed; "You got mail."Later, when my buddy checked my mail, it chimed off again. Line of sight from door to box is partially blocked by terrain and a red maple. I gambled this would work and I won.UpDate 2 months later: Mailbox transmitter had to be taped on, seems to work only twice a day, out going mail and when mail is picked up. Checking it again does not alarm.

Does the Job.
I had difficulty 'pulling' out the battery tabs, otherwise decent device.Mounting sender was super easy, Just be sure the unit is mounted UP properly.I mounted the receiver with my own Hook & Loop sticky tap, saving the screws for something else.
