These work!
Great solution for old window sashes that have lost their weights and won’t stay up but come crashing down. They slide right into the gap on the side, and are affixed with one small nail. Usually with old windows, one side has a gap, and if one of these slides isn’t enough to create tension, a second can be installed at the bottom of the same side of the sash.

Work well
These clips work better than the standard double hung clips I have used to loose windows. Definitely easier to install.

Love this simple tool
I have really old windows in my historic house. Some of my windows do not stay up, and I have to have little pieces of wood to hold them up. Think of a dowel holding it up, but not that nice. So these sticks aren't pretty, and of course, it's just at one height. I thought there must be a better way. I found that here was this custom wooden thing that someone was selling for close to $20 which basically was like a ladder so you had preset notches to rest your window sash on. Get outta here with that nonsense. So then, I checked my local Lowes. There was something listed on their website, but when I went it wasn't in stock and the people that worked there had no idea what I was referring to. So I check Amazon and found it.My window is wooden, and there's no rope, or springlatch, so I'm not sure how this window sash ever stayed up. The bottom of the sash could come right out of the window ie there's no trim really holding it in place either. Not sure how "normal" that is, but I was able to slip one of these things at the top of the sash, and nail it in, and it gave a good amount of pressure between the jamb and the sash. And then I also put one on the opposite side, and the combination provided a very nice amount of pressure. Now when I raise my window it stays in place! And I can wait to replace this window a little while longer.

Might work - might not
I had several guillotine double hung windows and was hopeful that this would help eliminate them. As it turned out it worked about half the time and they didn’t work the other half of the time so. So this is a definite your mileage may vary but it certainly beats Taking your window apart.

Great product
When we had "rope channel" in window we would bondo and sand, and then fit.

If you have old windows with torn sash cords, get this!!
I live in an old 1913 house with wooden windows with torn sash cords. This means the windows don't stay open on their own, which isn't safe. I installed just 1 of these springs per window and it's working as supposed to. It not only keeps the window open, but when it's shut, it prevents it from rattling if it's windy outside.

Works great for old wood windows and cheap to buy & install.
These things work great for holding up old windows. They are also super versatile, as you can bend the mounting lip if you have nothing to mount it to and just screw it directly to the window frame. They come in packs of two but the spring works so well on most of the windows I used them you only needed one (on some windows, only one would fit - using two made it too thick where the window wouldn't open at all). If you've ever taken apart an old window to restore the sash cords, you know that it can be really time consuming - and sometimes the weights fall all the way into the wall. These work great for old rental houses where you want to restore window function but don't want to destroy walls or buy new windows.
