Paper Cutting Old & New: Scherenschnitte for the Modern Crafter (Design Originals)

Different craft
Giving to a granddaughter that loves trying different types of crafts. Looks like it will take patience, but for teenager who loves art, should be a winner. Book is small, but has a lot of patterns and very good quality paper. Many patterns included and text seems to be good step by step. Can't really tell until someone has actually tried it. It's a gift...sorry I can't give more definitive information.

Nice size paper cutting book
Lots of very cute patterns with finished project pictures too.I counted 45 patterns I think. I predict cutting to do a big come back and 😉I would know lol

Excellent source
I liked this book better than a lot of the Scherenschnitte books I've seen . The patterns are so pretty. I only wish they were easier to enlarge. The projects are a little small.

A wonderful book with some excellent examples of kirigami and papercutting, the only limit is your imagination
"Paper Cutting Old & New" has some really excellent ideas in it: it has smaller papercutting patterns, and it has larger ones. Things to fit in photo frames, or projects to make for holiday seasons or birthdays. It has patterns for beginners and those of us more experienced with papercutting, and - more importantly perhaps - items that you'll want to make again and again. It's also not just patterns that are as simple as "cut this out and you're done with it". There are patterns that you cut out and colour. Patterns to cut out and embellish. Patterns that are meant to be made into cards, or gifts. There are *wonderful* ideas in this book.I will admit, however, when it arrived, I hadn't realised how small it was (32 pages!), but some of the pages have three patterns to cut. A lot of the patterns are patterns that are to be folded in half, which is a Japanese papercutting artform called "kirigami", while at LEAST one of them involves folding it thrice. A few involve simply cutting the pattern straight out. It's a wonderful little book, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by some of the patterns in it. Especially with the ones that you have to decorate yourself, no two will ever be exactly the same.

Excellent papercutting book!
Another excellent papercutting book. The patterns and tools and techniques are well presented and there are lots of patterns to try out. This is not perhaps the book to start with if you are a complete novice to the craft.
