Amazing 10 gig 8 port switch! Super quiet fan!
I switched away from tp-link switches as they keep failing after a few months or after a power outage which is totally unacceptable. I would stay clear of that brand as far as any switches. Their transceivers work really great. This zyxel 8 port 10 gig is pretty amazing. I really love the colorful led lights so that way I know which is connected at 10 gig being dark blue colored. The one surprising aspect of this switch is just how quiet the internal fan is. I tried to use a noctua quiter fan and even though it plugs in fine the switch did not recognize the fan and it wasn't spinning either. Honestly the fan it comes with is the quietest fan I have ever heard in a smart switch. Even more quiet than the noctua! One of the first things i did was login to the admin portal, change the password and also disable the cloud and locator functions as I do not want any outside access. Also i highly recommend you enter a different name in the snmp field as well to make things more secure. Besides that I would not do anything else and use it basically as an unmanaged switch.Speeds wise I was very surprised how great my lan file transfer speeds were. They were bit better than what my tp-link switch did and things feel bit snappier. Also my wan speeds are great if not slightly faster. I am using very high quality cat 8 cables everywhere and my home is wired in all rooms as well. The two sfp+ 10 gig ports you can convert using a transceiver so essentally you have a 10 port switch. One very handy aspect that brings some value to the already expensice product.Overall extremely satisfied. I'll defintiely be sticking to zyxel switches going forward and highly recommend this switch!

What a great find!
I had an older NG pure 10Gbe RJ45 switch (no 2.5 or 5Gbe) and the fan was just too loud, especially under multi-port 10Gbe load. It worked great for 1Gbe and 10Gbe connections - rock solid. Like me, many of you might have this or a similar switch, and are looking to replace it if it is near workers or your desk (in a small home rack) - or at least move it to a closet or basement. But if you want something similar, that is quiet, and supports 1, 2.5, 5 and 1Gbe, then this may be the switch.I searched a lot and nothing was coming up, except for this Zyxel (XS1930-10) switch. I had never purchased a Zyxel product in the past but decided that I had to try this one, or just tolerate the turbine jet engine sound of my older NG unit. I am sure glad I did this.I simply plugged this in and loaded it with 10gbps+ transfers, and this thing does not make a peep, or get hot. I will say that I make sure that my switch all have plenty of natural airflow and I tend to place a 80mm, 120mm or 140mm AC Infinity USB fan on them just to pull a little more air across the device - those fans are so useful. I have a small 22U rack, sitting in a nook, near my wife's desk (oh boy) and when the devices are really active, it does get loud (she says its fine), but I have at least reduced the switch noise, and heat. She is retiring very soon (yay), but I still want to keep the overall noise down in that nook. Moving it all to the basement soon (ugg).I cannot say what the managed interface of this switch seems like, or if it is intuitive, etc. But I was surprised that I just plugged this switch in, loaded it up (lots of robocopy and iPerf3 traffic), checked the external case temps (room temp), listened for any fan noise (minimal if any) with my Synology NAS and Server (10gbe) and several 2.5Gbe and 1Gbe clients - all operating at full speed. It is so rare that I buy a 10Gbe piece of equipment, for home use, and have it perform flawlessly, but this unit did just that. If you are in my situation and don't want the heat and jet engine noise, but you need 10Gbe RJ45 ports, that support 2.5 and 5Gbe as well, then look no longer. I spent a lot of time looking, and reading reviews, to ensure that a switch didn't have a high failure rate due to heat, and this was the only one I found that met my specs. HP and Cisco, while very nice, would deafen me.If I do find that this switch has any issues, I will update my review, but for now, 5 stars.

Finally a proper branded managed multiport 10Gbase-T switch
A great switch - and super excited to see a branded 10Gbase-T managed switch for sale in the US. It's not cheap per se but within reasonable homelab/SMB budgets if you have the need for (8) 10GBase-T ports (or 2.5G or 5G or less).Of course it's 10Gbase-T, so it runs on the warm side, and does pull some power. The marketing says its super quiet, but my unit had a fan, that while not loud at all, at 3K RPM whined annoyingly in my office. Not the volume but the frequency. It otherwise is a great switch so far - so decided to keep and re-fan it.However the Noctua treatment isn't likely possible. Sure they use a different pinout and that's fixable - BUT the non-PWM 3-pin variable voltage situation causes the issues. So for example the Noctua NF-A4x20 won't spin without a little push since the switch isn't giving it the 12V supply most of the time. You need a fan that will kickstart at something like 6V which the Noctua won't. [factory fan is 12V incidentally]Found the Sunon MagLev KDE1204PKV3.MS.AF.GN works well(and is Noctua quiet), but you will need to come up with a way to handle the screw situation(switch screws are too small, I used toothpicks), plus a fan extension cable since its got a little distance to cover. Do of course know temps will go up ~10C since airflow is less. It's unclear what temp that will trigger the switch to drive the fan harder, but the Sunon runs at 2K normally (5K capable) when installed. While talking about thermals - the PHYs are (I think) thermal pad'd to the bottom of the case as the heatsink, so don't stack this over another warm device without good airflow around the switch or they will get REALLY warm, and the fan doesn't do much for them.Functionality wise, the UI is somewhat disorganized IMHO, but has all the features I could wish for and then some - in a managed layer 2 switch. Performance is great, and the multicolor link LEDs are a nice and unique touch. Performance is great, links at any speed I could find upto 10G and found zero issues with the SFP+ cage and compatibility with various DACs or SFPs / SPF28s.Summary - really happy with this switch (outside the fan situation, some might be bothered less for sure, my office is pretty quiet) - and wished it had come out sooner!
