Song of the Wild: A First Book of Animals

This is one of the most gorgeous books! I buy a TON of books for my daughter and this is by far one of my favorites. The drawings are amazing!!! I love the idea of little poems about the animals instead of standard pages filled with just plain information. It really switches it up and makes it more fun ! Buy this now you won’t regret it.

I have actually used this book to share with my grand children over Zoom. The images are so large and vivid that the children can really see them clearly even virtually. What fun we have had exploring each animal!

Bought 2 of these after reading review in the Wall Street Journal. The 2-year-old and the 6-year-old love it.

Three year old just loved the pictures. A beautiful book!

This was a library find that I have since bought as it's such a beautiful book and one we've read again and again. Time and time again this book and the others in the series has had my daughter absolutely captivated. And me to be honest. The illustrations are beautiful and each has an accompanying poem which tells us a bit about the animal. There are actually quite a lot of facts fitted in and because it's so engaging daughter has been filled with questions on each page turn and a need to discuss the animal. The poems are interspersed with pages that detail specific traits about some animals; parasites, different types of eggs, markings - spots and stripes. The author is a zoologist and has written a few other books on similar themes - she has fast become one of our favourite children's authors.

The text and illustrations will keep the attention of anyone, child or adult, who turns these lovely pages. Informative and entertaining, with a new way of looking at animals. A book to treasure.
