Brilliant , a genuine Ford part for much less than Ford garage.
The bonnet lock on my 57 Ford focus was broken. No amount of handy hints n tips found on websites would open it. Plumped for this, cheaper than the part from my local ford garage and much much cheaper than getting Ford to do it for you.No instructions but just watch the you tube link from the other reviews. Took about 30 mins to get it to fit my key and then many hours in the cold trying to open the bonnet from inside. Very fiddly to say the least and a ratchet spanner would have been useful. However all sorted and the windscreen wash is finally topped up.

Works perfectly for Ford Focus 58 reg
It got to the point where I couldn't open my bonnet without someone there to push it down while I turned the key and I knew about the propensity for the bonnet mechanism to break in Fords so decided to replace it before it gave up conpletely. I installed this yesterday, followed the YouTube video mentioned in earlier reviews for building up the lock cylinder ([...]) and then couldn't find videos on how to actually replace it in the car itself so assumed it was pretty simple and just went for it. It is simple to do but I wasn't sure if I needed to remove my grille first so just in case anyone else wants to know - at least on a ford focus 58 reg you do not need to remove the grille at all, just the 2 top covers over the mechanism which are attached with 4 plastic screws, then there are two catches on the lock cylinder which feeds into the ford badge which you just squeeze to release the lock cylinder. Then, with a 10mm spanner (if you do car DIY it's worth having a ratchet one because it seems to be a standard size for cars) undo the 2 bolts either side of the catch mechanism (the bit you join this new mechanism into and is shown in the YouTube video above) once you've done that you can pull the lock cylinder through the hole to the side with the catch mechanism and then pull the mechanism you are replacing off the catch mechanism. You have to pull hard but it's okay, just down pull the wires leading to the catch mechanism from the car. Once you've pulled the bulk of it off you will be left with a little white bit the shape of a cross which you have to pull out with pliers, again, just pull hard and it will come out. With the fully assembled new part built to your key etc. you can push the white bit (triangular bit point down) back into the catch mechanism, push the lock cylinder and cable through the hole, do the bolts back up on the catch cylinder, push the lock cylinder into the ford badge, cover the lot back up with the plastic covers and attach with the 4 plastic screws and you're done! Works like a dream, so happy it's sorted and for a fraction of the cost garages quote!

Good quality
This is easy to build (just watch and copy the video on YouTube), and easy to fit.

Who needs Ford!
Thankfully I thought I'd give the 'diy mechanics' a bit of a go before allowing Ford to fleece me and I'm glad I did.The lock on my Focus was pickled and, having watched a couple of videos on YT I thought I could fix it fairly easily. Tried all that screwdriver malarkey and it doesn't really work if the lock is proper broken so, cut away the grille and then using a pair of vice grips, pulled the existing lock out by gripping on to the flexible black rubber coated twisty thingy, stuck in a smallish screw driver and the bonnet popped open.Didn't really want to be driving around having to do that all the time so, got a new grille off Ebay for £20 and purchased this lock repair kit. As other users have pointed out, YouTube has a good video demonstrating how to set up the key settings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtDAAjycrQY ) - it's fiddly, they popped out a couple of times but in the end, patience prevailed, just make sure that when the key is inserted all the way in that all the wee lock pieces sit flush, any that are protruding will stop the lock from turning properly. Another thing I found easier was to start at the hole nearest the key - that way, when you push your key in, you can take it out as far as the last flush fitting lock piece you put in and they won't pop out all over the show, just keep moving your key up as you fill in the slots.Once built I un-bolted the actual lock from the car and connected it to the repaired bonnet lock, then affixed the new grille and inserted the locking mechanism to the grille before re-bolting the lock back above the radiator - it's not very flexible and I just found it easier. I then reattached the grille cover and tightened everything up.I now have a working bonnet lock, I got to change my battery, light bulb and fill up the water before its MOT and I've saved a couple of hundred quid. All told, I spent £55 quid and a few hours putting it all together, it's worth it for the sense of achievement alone.

Sturdy Part
Sturdy, I can see this lasting me a long time. Was not happy with the cheaper alternative I bought of amazon, as it broke within a week. The lock cylinder assembly can take a while, but you do get to keep your original key. Probably can re-use the old cylinder, if you really want to (haven't tried).

Fits and works perfect
Arrived quick and was a very good part I watched a couple of you tube videos and then fitted the part the key bit is tricky but once you get the hang of it it’s easy just one thing I was give 4 extra no15 key bits and was missing no14 but managed to work around it

Delivery great, quality great, fiddly assembly, sadly turned out to be wrong part
Low rating mainly because it turned out to be the wrong part, which is Ford's fault as they make it nigh on impossible to identify parts unless you are one of their dealers/authorised mechanics or choose to buy direct from them at a hefty premium - it is though, also incredibly fiddly to sort the lock to your key though there is a very helpful video on Youtube regarding this.

Impressed with the parts, less impressed with lack of instructions
Parts are good and feel well made. Instructions would be beneficial as there is no way you are putting this together with common sense.
