Great product for great price with 2 in 1 device
The media could not be loaded. This review is long and please be patient with me. I am a professional technician with almost 20 years of experience. This device impressed me when I opened the box. There 4 parts: device, OBD II cable, battery tester cable, and USB cable for the update. It works like a champ when came out of a bag. These are 2 devices in 1 unit: an OBD II scanner and a battery tester. There is no internal battery in it. It was powered by a vehicle battery to turn it on. First is scanner: scanner works like every OBD II global scanner with Read codes, clear code, monitors readiness, live data, graphing data... and it is very fast responding but no testing available. Second is the battery tester: this tester is very accurate so far. I had a customer come to our shop with concern about dragging start, the vehicle still starts every time but she said feels like a hiccup before it starts. I put this tester on her battery and did the test. the result shows need a new battery even her battery voltage shows 12.80V but the amperage isn't enough causing the dragging start. Then I test a new stock battery on the shelf it shows "Good battery" even though its voltage was lower than her battery. if you notice on the device: Red LED means "need replace battery" Green means "Good battery" and I think Orange means "charge retest". I used this device for 3 days in a busy shop, and all my technicians and lube techs love it. I think Topdon had been listening to all reviews from people who used BT100 and they did some improvements: longer battery tester cable, the cable attached to clamps had been secured by a metal clip, preventing the cable from breaking off like BT100, and when you hold the up and down to select CCA, the number didn't jump to hundred like BT100 instead jump every 5 unit. However, I think Topdon can make it better if they use Bluetooth for OBD II. Switching from OBD II to battery tester cable is OK for DIYers but for technicians is annoying and chance to damage the device when you switch 100 times a day. The conclusion:Pros: fast OBD II scanner, accurate battery tester, affordable priceCons: (actually not more like a recommendation) annoy me when switching from cable to cable, hopefully Bluetooth device for OBDII with be improved on a later device.Hope this review helps someone out there looking for 2 in 1 device that won't break the bank. I will follow up and update this after couple months to use this device to see how it stands up in a rough environment.

Great Battery State of Health testing feature.
I had a parasitic battery drain problem for several weeks and checked fuses for current flow, devices left on like glove box lights, trunk lights, etc. but my battery went below 11 bolts overnight. Although the charging system was fine the battery voltage measured around 12.5 volts when the car was not running and about 14.6 running, each night it seemed to be a parasidic drain and would not start the next day.I connected the battery tester and ran the testing features and was surprised that it showed the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was just over 4 years old. The tester showed that the “State of Health” SOH, was very low.I replaced the battery about two months ago and it still works fine now. I learned that just testing battery voltage alone may not indicate a bad battery.

Solidly made, works good overall!
Physically, this tool is well made, though it's made of plastic it feels well build. The buttons are very tactile and easy to operate when wearing gloves. The Artilink500b works well as a basic OBD2 code scanner and monitor as well as a self contained battery load tester. Impressively, the tool even comes with a case and decent looking PC software for performing firmware updates and 'printing' the data. The display of the tool is very bright & has a dedicated LED light to show you both detailed information and a pass/borderline/fail indication.I have 4 complaints though:1) Their is no way to name saved data, the tool simply assigns each test a numerical value counting up from 1. As such trying to keep track of test results is not easy.2) Like many people, I feel the leads for the car battery tester are too short and do not meet the advertised claims.3) The tool does not have a battery and as such requires you to power it from an external source anytime you want to access the data that's on it. for instance: say you test a car battery and forgot to note down the result, you then have to either plug the tool into a car and turn the car on, plug a usb source into the tool, or re-connect the tool to the battery. For ~$87.00 I feel including a battery to power the tool should be standard.4) The tool does not support basic service tasks. For instance this tool can't do a BMS or oil reset, it can only read/clear codes and data from the car. As code scanners with this capacity are around ~$100 I would expect the capability to be present in this tool.So the long and short of it is: This is a great tool for if you need to do occasional OBD2 code scanning and if you want to be able to test your own car battery & charging system because your car can't conveniently break down only at shops.

very fast for obd scanning, and does what it should
Super fast, great for live data, and battery testing is very useful. the best price for a scanner with both functions.
