Good ideas for beginner
I bought this for my husband who at 73 decided to take up woodturning. He is not creative so this book has given him ideas that he hadn’t thought about, along with clear instructions on what to do and different techniques. It’s been a good buy and a good start. Wood recommend it

Brill book
I borrowed this book from my local library, it is full of detail inc the sizes on each object Each project builds on the skills learnt on the one before. So I bought the book.

Great Ideas
Bought as a gift, but looked really interesting. Some great ideas for the wood turner.

A must-read for any aspiring woodturner
This book offers an excellent grounding in woodturning for someone taking up the craft. After an introductory section covering a range of general topics, Mark offers a carefully-ordered set of projects, progressively planned to build skills and experience as the reader goes through the book. The emphasis throughout is on safe practice, but without ever becoming preachy or discouraging. My advice to any beginner turner would always be to get some good tuition - most probably at a local club - with a mentor at your shoulder who can pick up and correct faults before they become dangerous. But where that is not possible (or even where it is, as a supplementary provision) this book will be invaluable. My only criticism would be that Mark does seem to gloss over (no pun intended) the subject of finishing. Sanding sealer doesn't get a mention, unless i've missed it, and it would be really helpful to have the same kind of photostrip, step-by-step guide to this topic as he provides so well in the projects section. However, that is the most minor of minor criticisms and I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who wants to consolidate and build upon their woodturning skills

Projets simples à réaliser. ça donne des idées. On peut toutefois regretter certains manques de conseils. Comme tous les livres anglo-saxons il est très pragmatique.

this book is clear, has great illustrations and is very instructive. While most of the projects are not to complex, they do offer great practice opportunities and lead to more and more complex ideas being used as your proficiency increases.

Everyone in the house has to get a new book at Christmas. This one was a gift to me. Enjoying reading it and planning some projects. Straighforward guide that cultures a progression of skills from easy to intricate.
