Kids love them! Have bought multiple times
We have purchased these trains a few times! They work really well, are reliable, simple to use (just one big button that goes forwards, middle for stop, or backwards), last longer than other ones we've tried, and are good value for money! Very impressed! They go at a good speed with new batteries, and becomes slower as the batteries become worn out, but that's fine! They go backwards and forwards, and can pull many carriages, including uphill. They work on tracks and across floors. The kids love them and so do I! Wonderful electric trains!

Lovely little strong train
Lovely little train, easily manageable by a 2.5 year old to switch on and off or switch between forward and reverse. Hours of fun. No toot toot sound though but that didn’t bother us - the light was more exciting.

Steady and always stays the distance!
SOUND Hape is SLOW and steady, has never derailed or got stuck and can pull a couple of carriages. It is SILENT so that's good if you like peace and quiet but bad for kids who like sound. SPEED Slow, but steady. This is a very slow train but it's battery life is good so it slows down less than other trains if the batteries are low. CONTROLS (movement switch) Hape has a slightly awkward switch, that my 2 year old doesn't understand and it's difficult to stop the train without putting it into reverse. The good thing is, it has a reverse! SOUND and LIGHTS Has the brightest light but no sound. STABILITY Hape is the most stable tarin by far! PULLING CARRIAGES Not great at pulling carriages... two maximum up hills. HILLS Pretty good up all hills, does get stuck temporarily on a brio hump bridge when it's batteries are a little low but eventually gets up it. TUNNELS Hape is definitely the smallest, therefore best in tunnels and never gets stuck. BATTERY CHANGE Hape is easy to change battery - the reason I have this category is that the bigjigs mighty red is so hard to open it makes the experience a real pain - but not with Hape, which has a sensible easy open screw section. CONCLUSION Hape is a great little train, a bit boring because no sound and slow but it's steady and always stays the distance!

A nice sturdy train with good battery life
I bought this train to use with my grandsons generic wooden train track. The train works really well having both a forward and reverse action using a switch on the top. The battery life is really good and the train has a small light of the front which adds a nice affect. The cost of the train was much less than the well known wooden train brand but in. my opinion works extremely well.

3 year old Loves this train!
My son got into trains and making train tracks a little while ago so when Christmas came around I thought of this little train immediately! I bought two so they could 'race' around the track. This is such a good little train that we've even started setting it challenging tracks to test it's potential! These were my son's favourite present for Christmas! He's tested them off the tracks too. Fun across hard wood flooring, lino etc. Can go across carpet but a little slower. My son learnt the hard way that you can't roll it across a long pile carpet rug or your hair!! The wheels WILL get caught! Would 100% recommend to all the little train lovers out there :) Requires 2 AAA batteries. Use a known brand battery rather than a cheaper version

Great train
We have two different make trains and this one is a lot faster. It lights up too which is a bonus for our 3 year old. Only slight annoyance is the off switch is hard to do while the trains moving for a 3 year old. Climbs the tracks and bridges easily but not a fan of sharp corners. Great purchase and my boy is very happy with it.

IT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. YOU WILL CHARGE IT, THEN PUT ID DOWN AND IF IT GOES 5 FEET YOU THINK GREAT, AND THEN, NEXT TIME YOU LOOK, IT HAS STOPPED. WINDING IT MORE DOES NOT MAKE IT WORK BETTER, BUT WORSE. I HAVE 2 OF THEM AND THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME. GOING UP HILL, EVEN WHEN IT IS WORKING, FINDS IT STRUGGLING. I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT IDEA. I AM DISAPPOINTED.

This train is not really electronic. My little girl kepps put it under sunshine to get energy but actually this is not sunlight powered. The power is only for the light. And the energy used really fast. I didnot return it just because my girl still want to keep it. Don't buy, the photos are missleading.
