Ignore the negative feedback! It’s a good tool.
Please ignore the one star bad reviews. Clearly these people are inexperienced and have no clue how to use it. A few have posted photos of the tool bending, but when used correctly this is never going to happen. They have obviously never stripped engines before, and they don’t know that the top of the valve needs a little tap with a hammer to release the collets. Once this has been done the tool is more than strong enough to compress the valve springs. I’ve just used it to remove a 16 valves from a head without the slightest difficulty. If I was to mark it down at all I’d say that it probably should have a bearing on the end of the bolt that touches the valve, or at least a cup that swivels, but what do you expect for this price? I actually made my own bearing arrangement so as to be sure of not marking the valve heads, but that’s only because I’m a perfectionist, and this was a racing engine. The tool works perfectly adequately.

KATSU Tools 10PC 5 in 1 Portable Valve Spring Compressor
Excellent tool, perfect for my 1 off burned out valve job on a VW Fox, great price & quality. Would recommend to others.

The basic principle is sound
Got this tool as my valve spring compression tool wouldn’t work on the head I am trying to remove valves from. Some have stated that they ended up bending the tool, whilst others remarked that they must have been mis-using the tool in its operation. This tool is lightly constructed from fairly thin wall tubing and will flex quite a bit when compressing the valve spring. If you’re trying to compress double, or high rate springs, the frame will readily bend, especially if the valve collets have a tendency to stick which adds to the strain on the tool (a tap with a soft-face hammer can often break the seal of the stuck collets). I am going to weld in some reinforcing plates across the bends on my frame just to beef it up and to help resist any bending of the frame. Other than this, the tool is entirely satisfactory for the home handyman and cheap enough .

Great value
Perfect. Great little tool for the price. Used it to remove the valves from a Toyota starlet head. Worked perfectly.

Cheap and effective
Really easy to use, did the job without issues. Clamped the valves down securely on a citroen kfv engine and made the job a lot better. Definitely worth the money.

Much better than I expected...
Excellent piece of kit for the price. I wasn't expecting much after watching a video of a similar kit and the user said it was rubbish quality - but there are a lot of these kits around, made by different manufacturers and to different standards, no doubt. This one seems strong and capable to me. I took all 16 valves out of a Citroen Xsara Picasso head and then replaced them with ease. I even used the a couple of pieces of the kit to help with replacing the valve stem seals, as they were a nice size for the job - I slotted the seals over the handle/bar and then slotted the par inside the valve stem guide. Finally, I used the smallest fitting to slot over the seal head and and was able easily push it over the guide [use oil on the bar and also the seal itself].
