SKIL 4.5 Amp Belt and Disc Combination Benchtop Sander - BB9504-00

So like the title says, this is a first impressions review of the Skil 4.5 Amp Benchtop Sander. This is also a comparison review of a similar sander from Wen that I returned after a day of use.At first glance, I was worried about this sander because the body is identical to the Wen sander I returned. I worried that I re-purchased the same product with just a different brand name and color but immediately I could tell that the quality of the sander itself as well as the work tables were much better. With the Wen the tables could not be attached to the sander securely enough to provide a safe experience with the tool but with the Skil version the work tables were easily secured and felt comfortable I would be safe using the sander. Another reason I returned the Wen version of this sander was it was easily bogged down with almost no pressure against either the disk or belt part of the sander. Again not true with this Skil sander. I had to apply quite a bit of effort to bog down the sander with the piece wood I was sanding to have the slightest noticeable slow down of the motor. First impressions of this sander is it's easy to assemble, solid enough to use the sander with a comfort of safety, and has a powerful enough motor to perform more than enough for any hobbyist's needs.So far I am very happy with my decision to purchase this Skil sander and if it continues to meet my expectations much like the Skil table saw I purchased a few months back, then Skil maybe my new brand of choice when it comes to corded power tools.

This sander is not as powerful as my older, larger sander, but it gets the job done. It doesn’t take up much space, and it is a good value for the money.

Works very well. The miter is alittle flimsy, but with a technique it works well. If you do a lot of woodwork get a more sturdier sander. For most homeowners this tool is great.

Great bench sander for the price. Well packaged for shipping. Easy to set up, instruction manual provides clear instruction. Motor appears powerful enough for most sanding needs.. Motor speed is constant and not variable . 12 month warranty can be extended to 36 months if you register product on the Skil website. Caution: Both belts run concurrently, so when using and focused on the horizontal belt, just be sure not to have any loose clothing near the disk below to get caught, because you won't see it coming!. Overall great sander.
