how long do they last?

With slits in the top a long time. With it OPEN it lasts a couple of months max, from my experience. Try half open, with some foil or plastic over the other half.

I could not stand the smell of pro, literally made me nauseated, is this one less chemically smelling? other suggestions? (room next to horse stall)

strictly speaking about the smell, I prefer the gel. My block has a sickly sweet smell while the gel is freshness to your face. Block does the job, but not as nice on my nose.

Will this work okay inside of a tractor trailer, with me around it 24/7?

Don’t waste your money on this; it didn’t do what it says it would do. I had it in a smaller space and it didn’t covered up the musty smell. I will not buy again.
