Unsatisfactory
Love my Vitamix but this is the second tamper I've had in a short space of time as they get damaged by the blades. Vitamin need to rethink the durability of this item.

This item came in just a plastic bag with a bar code on it. It also had some small bits of plastic on the bottom but I scrapped it off with my finger and I will watch closely to make sure no more comes off and so far I have not noticed anymore. This tamper looks nicer than my original one. It says Vitamix right on the Tamper and it has a reminder to recycle. So if the way it looks matters, this will make you happy. Please remember to be careful. Although I'm sure you already know this or you wouldn't need this replacement lol. I was extremely sick with the flue or the bird pox or whatever horrid thing that's been floating around now. It hit us not once but twice. Just as we got over the first the second hit and that one was so much worse. Of course I go to my trusty Vitamix but I'm totally zombified. After being too weak to even use my machine I of course put my husband first. I drug myself into the kitchen to make the most delicious concoction that he could get down and would include lots of vitamins. Well, I did and it looked/smelled so delicious, Vitamix turned strawberry, bananas, peaches and a tad of mango into this super smooth, whipped gloriousness. It made me hungry for the first time in a week. So I went about making my own. We only had enough to make one more. Everything is frozen as usual, no problem. When it needed me to press the frozen foods into the now blended soft items something happened and it stopped blending properly. Usually a little water will fix it but instead (again, I'm a zombie) I pulled the top off and got out a wooden spoon. Something I've done a thousand times before usually to scoop the yummy sorbet or something I've made out. This time on auto pilot I used the spoon to move stuff around. Then with out putting the top on I begin to blend again, putting the wooden spoon down and picking up the tamper. Continuing stuffing items down into the blades gently until...let me repeat WITH OUT THE TOP ON TO STOP the Tamper, I pushed the tamper into the blades. Big loud noise, wakes me from Auto Pilot. It's a done for Tamper. I knew I would have to buy another. Soo my exhausted head decided I could use my wooden spoon and everything would be safe as long as I had the top on the container. Right? Not remembering that, that only works with the tamper. Sure enough just as it was doing it's thing just as it should, getting the last of my ingredients in perfectly...I drop the wooden spoon right in into the blades. My weakness could not hold a light wooden spoon long enough to pull it out. BRGRRGRRGH!!!!!!! I immediately hit stop. So upset that the only nourishment I could get down me could not be drank with half a wooden spoon blended. Except, I was so frustrated at this point that I cleaned the spoon, brought it, with my smoothie of deliciousness to my couch and spent a good hour gently drinking my drink through a plastic straw. Carefully. I put pieces of wood I'd come across on the spoon, putting it together as I found them. Once all of the parts were found I was free to enjoy my drink. I was sick, tired, hungry and had a really grumpy man to take care of so that's my excuse and I powered through it and carefully drank my drink but in all seriousness, PLEASE be careful. You really understand the power of these things when you drop a wooden spoon in when it's trucking away on Smoothie mode and it's hit 6th gear. Scary! That wooden spoon was nothing to the Vitamix. I hit stop as fas as I could and it was already turning into tiny wood chips. I'm sure I drank some of it but hey, it was natural wood not fake so. I stayed true to being nutritious. I Love my Vitamix though and I hope the rest of you who have to buy this replacements can tell me that I am not the only one who had to replace for making a mistake. Be safe and enjoy your Vitamix.

It’s an excellent and much needed tool. It’s used for the large, taler jug to aid the food into the blades. It’s very important to note, that you make sure to use the tools when the lid is on, otherwise you’ll be like me have to replace your tools cuz you decided to tempt fate and try to use the tools without the lid. The blades are unforgiving for anything in their grip!!!
