This is a really fantastic strobe, and doesn't disappoint in any way
I've just taken delivery of an AD600B, but I actually bought it on eBay.This is a really fantastic strobe, and doesn't disappoint in any way. It's powerful with full Manual, ETTL, HSS and Multi Modes all controllable from the Godox X1 Transmitter.I often have to compete with strong ambient light in mid afternoon, as I photograph weddings and this strobe will be a big help to me.I've just measured it's output and at 10 ft my Sekonic flashmeter is reading f29. More than enough power to take down the ambient light should I need to.I already own a Godox RS600P. This company are making some fantastic equipment at very affordable prices. I'm very impressed.

Shortly after I purchased the Godox AD360 Mk2, Godox announced the AD600. I thought "Bugger!" and felt like I should have waited. When it was finally released I decided to buy the AD600 with the intent of figuring out which I preferred and sell the other.I'm a wedding photographer and the reason I was interested in the AD600 was that the AD360 struggles to overpower the sun in the summer. I was betting that the 600W would give me more power. From that point of view the AD600 didn't disappoint. Using my lightmeter, it showed that using the same light modifer, it was consistently 1 stop higher at full power than the AD360. For those who don't do stops, that's double the light. The unit itself is very well made, the integrated battery is a welcome addition with one of the biggest frustrations of the AD360 being the dangling cable connecting it to the battery pack. Mine didn't come with the standard reflector which is a small disappointment, t would have been handy to have. Not that I ever used the one on the AD360 but it would have been nice to have.I purchased the TTL version with the Bowens mount. You can get the non TTL version but I figured it's only a bit more and it's better to have the feature and not use it than the other way around. The interface should be familiar to anyone using a Godox TT685 flash. The beauty of the newer Godox flashes is the fact they all use the same controller system. So I can control the AD600 from either my TT685 in master mode or the X1N-T controller. This really helps me when I am in the field and there's less swapping & faffing around.A couple of things I've noticed. Firstly out of the box, the flash ignores TTL flash compensation. So you can dial in say TTL +1 on your trigger but the flash ignores it. Hopefully Godox can fix this in a firmware release.Secondly it's significantly bigger & heavier than the AD360. It's probably just crossed the line between a run & gun solution like it's little brother to a "I can just about lug it around" solution. Certainly I wouldn't leave this unattended on a light stand. The cheap lightstands I have are straining a little to hold it. I guess it's the trade off for the extra power. I'll probably get the head attachment to separate the head from the body so I can use the body to weigh down the lightstand. It's not an expensive add on.I think this is potentially a GREAT solution for someone who is building a studio and doesn't want cables everywhere. Or a photographer who is working on an outdoor shoot with assistants and time to spare.Right now I can't decide at all. As a wedding photographer I think this will be a specialist piece of lighting that I will break out on a summer day but the rest of the time it will probably stay in the car. The AD360 Mk2 is way more practical but lacks the power. So which will I sell? Well if I HAD to then I'd say it would have to be the AD600 for the above reasons. However I do love it so I think i will simply keep both.
