Wifi Tuya Smart Temperature and Humidity Sensor, Smart Hygrometer Thermometer for Alert, No Hub Required, Compatible with Alexa and Google Home, for Home, Baby, Garages, Intelligent Linkage

Although we have thermostats upstairs and downstairs for our central heating, these don’t let us know individual room temperatures which can vary hugely from room to room. I bought a three pack of these little beauties for just over £20 which is far less than other comparable units. They are tiny, about 4cm by 1cm by 1cm, and wherever you choose to place them, they’re inconspicuous. The boxes contain a unit, instructions and a resetting pin (think iPhone). You will have to provide the two AAA batteries per unit. Once you have the Tuya App (use your phone camera to read the Q code in the instructions), it’s really straightforward to set up: with batteries in place, use the reset pin to set the device to blinking (pairing mode), then just follow the Tuya App instructions! (Choose the “+” to add, choose “sensor” then, in my case, “Wi-Fi” and you’re good to go! I renamed mine to fit the rooms in which they were placed. As I have Alexa, I also added them to my Alexa devices. All three units connected easily and on my first attempt. The temperature reading updates each hour, which is fine for me as I don’t expect sudden variations. You can set parameters outside of which you will get a notice and if you have Tuya (or compatible) aircon, you can set up ITTT operations. All in all, I’m really pleased with these units and will now be able to monitor individual room temperatures when I’m away from home.

Good price, prompt delivery, easy to setup and connect to wifi. Unfortunately one device has failed already. Have contacted seller but no response which is disappointing.

I used this product successfully for slightly less then a month before the first batteries died and noticed residue around the batteries. Subsequent also lasted about a month but by then getting the thermometer to reconnect to WiFi was getting to be to much of a hassle so in the end it was left on my desk To Do Pile. Just a moment ago there was a load Bang and the thermometer jumped off the desk because the Kodak AAA Battery installed in it exploded. I would not believe this was possible if I hadn't just seen it happen.

Received and set up in a few minutes, connected well to home WiFi and two worked well. One would not connect so contacted seller and explained about it, they sent replacement and it arrived and worked fine. I now know the temperature in the rooms by just asking my Alexa.

Easy to set up and they work with reasonable accuracy. You can change the name of each device in the 'Smart Life' app so that you know which location you are 'reading'. Deduct 2 stars because I can't work out how to link it to Alexa to "ALERT" me to temperature/humidity changes. The listing says: "SMART HYGROMETER THERMOMETER FOR ALERT, COMPATIBLE WITH ALEXA, INTELLIGENT LINKAGE". That sounds exactly what I wanted but..... I failed to find any way to get an "ALERT" via the "INTELLIGENT LINKAGE" to "ALEXA" and I failed to find any way to automate a fan or heater via "ALEXA" - which is what I wanted. Either I have failed to understand how to get an "ALERT" or the listing is misleading. The app does allow you to set up alarms via the app but the conditions have not gone outside the limits I set a couple of months ago and no alarm has yet gone off in the app. It may work but I don't know. Remaining battery life is displayed in the 'Settings' page of the Smart Life App. Mine is showing 46% after 7 weeks use so it will probably last 13 weeks, i.e. 8xAAA batteries/year for each sensor. That only costs £4.08 for Amazon Basics batteries but it is inconvenient and you may miss an alarm especially as it is likely to be worse in cold weather. Deduct 1 star for poor battery life. AA batteries would last almost 3 times as long.

These are cheap and easy to setup. The temperature sensor seems quite accurate however the humidity sensor is next to useless, but the main problem is the readings are only sent once an hour.

I’ve been pleased with this product. I am using them in my house to monitor temperature and humidity levels in various rooms. Tested against other thermometers, I have found the temperature and humidity to be accurate. They were easy to set up (I already use smartlife) and linked up first attempt (via mobile broadband connection). I am replacing my first set of batteries after 4 months which I am happy with. Good value for money.

Bought three. Fitted one with brand new Duracell alkaline batteries but the other two with freshly recharged AMAZON Basic 800mAh Ni-MH rechargeables. As expected, both rechargeables self-reported from the outset as less than 100% charged, because the typical 1.3V put out by such batteries even when fully charged is the same as that of an already partially discharged alkaline battery (which are by contrast usually about 1.6V when new). Attached graph shows how reported battery charge has been decaying over the last nearly 4 weeks. So, rechargeables are FINE with these sensors. Sensor accuracy appears to broadly within about 1 degree centigrade and 5% humidity - but the three provide slightly different readings even when lined up side by side. Following the firmware update, data refreshes appear to be more frequent depending on how fast the readings are changing. Readings can be downloaded as a CSV file via the app, but only either hourly for one day at a time or as a single averaged reading for each day of one month. Would be more useful to be able to download all actual readings received over multiple days. One major gripe is that the sensors can ONLY send their data to the TUYA cloud. This builds in privacy concerns, and an enduring technical dependency on a service that may not continue to be free or even to exist at all. But at £8 each, I guess they're replaceable if that happens. Or, I'll have to learn how to install and run a local server that spoofs the TUYA cloud.
