This book is concentrated goodness! It has several plans for clocks and a folder in the back has plans for making these. It is a superb introduction to the subject. The quality of printing and illustration is very high. Excellent value for the price. Beware, you may feel coerced into buying a scroll saw and pedestal drill before reaching the end!

I liked this book a lot, It does confirm my thought that it's going to coast me quite a considerable sum to purchase all the tools I would need to make these gears to a standard I would like them. The list started growing once I started reading. The book is a great book with the patterns in an envelope on the back page. On the plus side, with a minimal outlay you can see what's needed before you start out!

I would have given this 5 stars but the one that let me down was that it was quite difficult to photocopy the plans, these are drawn in something like A1 or A2 size but the largest scanner/copier I could find was an A3 size so it took 4 sheets of A3 stuck together with sellotape to create the actual plan I was trying to copy. Other than that great book, I am starting with the Genesis design first then I will move onto the other designs.

This really is an excellent little book. It is beautifully illustrated. Each design has a comprehensive list of components and suggested sources (admittedly in USA). The step-by-step instructions are detailed and clear. The designs are progressively more demanding. As an introduction to mechanical clockmaking and design in general this book is just about perfect.

Wonderful designs and highly informative. One word of caution, it is not really for the novice scroll saw user. The designs require a large degree of accuracy so a degree of familiarity with using the saw is needed.

The book was an interesting and informative book on clock principals and also the making of items in wood. It would have been better if there was not 15 pages missing from the download. These appeared as blank pages so I don't know what I missed.

The right item at the right price and delivered quickly. I am still in the throws of studying the content more closely, but am sure it will deliver what I wanted. My only worry is the metal components required for sum items, I was not expecting to have to acquire or turn brass bushes. This will be a new challenge.

この手の時計やキネティックアートを趣味で５～６年作っていますがこれから始める方にも解りやすいと思います。 私が始めた頃は実験と失敗の繰り返しでしたがこの本があったなら・・・と思います。 実寸テンプレートと３Ｄ組立図が付いていて解りやすいが・・・ 寸法は全てインチでインチ規格の部品の使用を前提で書かれているので多少使用する部品に合わせて自分で変更する箇所は多々あります。 最後の電磁振り子の物は市販の電磁振り子キットを使用と書いてあるのでおそらく国内で作る場合は電子工作の知識が多少必要になると思います。 自作する場合のコイルの構造と回路図を添付します（自己責任で作成してください）。 国内部品で代用の場合は電磁振り子はトランジスター2SC1815×１、小信号スイッチングダイオード1S2076A×１、エナメル線約120ｍ（センサーコイルと電磁コイルで各６０ｍほど巻いた２層コイルを自作するため）、あとは必要に応じて抵抗10Ωを１個（必要無い場合は要らない） 仕組みは磁石が通過すると同時にセンサーコイルに電気が流れトランジスタのスイッチ作用で駆動用の電磁コイルに電流が流れ磁石を反発して振り子を動かします。首をゆらゆら振る玩具の仕組みと同じです。 この本の時計を一通り作る頃には時計の仕組み等かなり理解できると思うので応用でもっと複雑な時計やオートマタ、キネティックアートの基礎知識になると思います。

Yes, this is what I was looking for and a good book. It has the plans including the full size patterns it promised. Pictures inside are in color and instructions are actually fairly decent. Most of the projects in this book can be built with a scroll saw and a drill press (plus lots of filing and sanding) yet.... There are a couple instances like the gear machine where other tools like a mill and lathe are used which isn't cool, because those are expensive and this book is advertised as a scroll saw book. however, with a little diligence a person could construct all the projects with a scroll saw and hand tools. I've only built one wood gear clock so far (from another set of plans) and will give fair warning as best I can:) to cut an accurate wooden gear takes patience, but can it be done on a scroll saw. I'm giving this book 5 stars because: it has a couple plans in it that I really like and are well designed, It has few to no literary rivals as nobody else who offers wood gear clock plans has published a book for woodworkers, it is priced very competitively compared to other plans you might find online, and I do think it is a fun hobby.

After leafing through this multiple times, I have to say it's a great book with great detail. It explains how to build wooden gear clocks. I wish it explained a bit more of the theory on why and how the gear ratios work to keep time, but that would likely double the size of the book. All in all, I'm happy with it and would recommend it.
