Great for encouraging my kids to brush properly during lockdown.
We were due a dental visit but it was postponed due to lock down. I was worried about my kids not brushing their teeth properly and not having regular dental check ups. The disclosing tablets highlighted to the children where they weren't brushing properly. The like the timer and it encourages them to brush for long enough. I brought the kids one timer each and discovered that if I held the two together I could do a good demonstration of proper brushing and show the three surfaces of the teeth to brush. Be warned that the tablets can stain.

Good little buy!
Lovely idea. Really helps to focus the kids while brushing their teeth. They are fragile though. Not robust considering they are for use by small children. One got dropped on the bathroom floor and the glass timer tube smashed. The external tube is plastic so it did contain the problem. This is a good safety point to make while I'm here. I did buy a replacement so I clearly believe they are worth having.

Messy but good way to teach about brushing teeth
I remembered doing something like this when I was a kid and when my daughter read a book about visiting the dentist she wanted to try. Be warned, these go bright purple/blue when chewed and it gets dribbled everywhere! So make sure they do it over the sink or something and have a wipe to hand. It did really make its point though and she realised where to focus her toothbrush and the timer really helped hammer the message home too.

Renewed enthusiasm for brushing teeth!
The disclosing tablets do have a tendency to make a bit of a mess, but my 7 year old son is now far more enthusiastic about brushing his teeth and loves to see how well he has done by using the disclosing tablet afterwards and then going over any bits he missed. The sandtimer is light but sturdy and the happy face keeps us all cheerful as we brush. A great combination
