The Real Ghostbusters: Volume 1 [DVD]

Suitable for children not too scary at all

Just started watching the real ghostbusters with my grandson and it's good to watch some older animation. Grandson has just started getting into ghostbusters.

This dvd box set collects together the first 30 episodes of "The real ghostbusters" animated series. The show was an animated spin off of the ghostbusters films and continued the adventures of Ray, Peter, Egon, Winstone and their ghostly sidekick Slimer as they battle to protect the world from ghosts, demons, monsters and other supernatural threats.Much like the films this show was a brilliant mix of supernatural activity, comedy and action which was watched by children and adults alike. Time Life have released all the "real ghostbuster" series in a 25 disc box set but it costs over £100 from most online retailers. But recently they have been releasing them in segments at a much more affordable price such as this one. Volumes 2 and 3 collect together another 30 episodes each from the series. But please be aware that these dvd box sets are region 1 encoded and will only play on north American or multi regional dvd players. I have completely given up hope of them ever giving the series a proper release on region 2. There are 5 discs in this set. Discs 1-4 contain the episodes and disc 5 the extras. The box set also comes with a booklet which lists all the episodes.The sound and picture quality are good and the extras include an episode length featurette, episode introductions, image galleries and five visual commentary tracks featuring writers, artists and voice actors. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This is a Review of the 2009 release of the UK Season 1 set.This new DVD set from Sony is exellent. Though it's a bit confusing when it uses the term 'complete first season', allow me to explain. In 1986, the Real Ghostbusters cartoon's first season had 78 episodes in it's first season in total, though 13 of those episodes would air on Saturday mornings on the American TV network; ABC, while the other 65 were aired in syndication across America, to be shown on various networks during the week Monday-Friday. This set from Sony only has the 13 episodes that aired on ABC on these two disks, but that's what I thought it would be from the start. So I'm guessing if Sony continues these releases, we might end up with 8 seasons, instead of 7, or they might merge two seasons together. Overall this set is great, there's no extras, but it has quite a few other language versions, as well as English. Funnily enough though one of the episodes is missing it's Spanish language track, but it has Spanish subtitles, it clearily says that on the Menu on Disk 2. Overall for the price, this is a great starter to any Real Ghostbusters DVD collection and here's hoping Sony will continue to release these shows on DVD and perhaps they could import some of the extras from the Time Life sets in later releases.

The animation has dated quite a bit but this is still a huge account of fun. Silly humour, fun characters and the odd very light spooky moment. The inventive ghosts are where this series excels for me. I was crazy about this series and the toys in my distant youth so great nostalgia as an excuse to rewatch with my kids. Brilliant!

If like me you weren't quick enough to order the re-release by Time Life complete with Firehouse boxing and steelbooks a few years ago, this goes a nice way to start the collection.Sony are apparently releasing these over the next year. This is season 1 in its entirety over the 2 discs in this set, which also comes in a nice blue shiny sleeve.Whilst these aren't exactly remastered, the colours are much more vibrant than in previous releases and the title of the episodes now appears over The Real Ghostbusters logo at the end of the introduction.The no ghost that used to introduce us to beaks and afterwards is nowhere to be seen, I can only guess as there are no breaks and to not get confused with Rowan in the new film.Good set however, hoping all of season 2 is released next, as the last time they began releasing these sets several years ago they stopped after season 1

If you are an 80's kid, this is a gem. 2hrs and 14 minutes of Ghostbuster action, the original (Original is always best) version. Série très amusante pour les petits et les grands qui reflètent bien les fils du même titre. Je recommande cet article.

Finally, at long last The Real Ghostbusters are available the way I saw it when I was a kid. With ALL the memorable episodes. One of my favorites growing up, and I still love it. Can't wait for Vol. 2. A must have for the die hard fan of this series.

Versand war reibungslos. Kam schneller als gedacht. Die DVD ist toll. Mein Sohn liebt die Serie genau so wie ich damals. Dieser UK Import,lässt sich auch auf Deutsch abspielen und ist auch noch viel günstiger als die deutsche Fassung. Ich find's toll,Hab die zweite Staffel nun auch noch bestellt.
