Great product
This is a great product. I had a problem with the fill valve slamming shut on a toilet and cycled through a number off competitor options which didn't not solve it, before alighting on this one, which very much did. The fill flow was also not materially reduced by the valve to make this happen. The brass shank is a "nice to have" that makes it easier to mate and tighten a connection to it when it's in a tight hard to reach spot. Also the narrow profile of the valve is much better suited to slim cisterns compared to some competitors which couldn't fit into the cistern properly without a lot of manipulation.

Fixed my problem
Brilliant. Fixed a water bang 💥 when the cistern stopped filling. Could only have the water isolator valve open a 1/4 of a turn which made a loud water filling and took longer to fill. Now the isolator is open fully, it’s quiet, fast and fixed the problem with bang. Easy to fit

Good, simple to fit, though they ought to provide a brass backing nut...
Its nice and adjustable in terms of pipe height and the float height. Also would've been super easy to fit, unfortunately my pipes don't line up nicely as they do on all those youtube tutorials. This meant I had to ensure the bottom was tightened up much more than recommended to ensure the washer sat nice and flat at the bottom of the cistern, to avoid a leak. I had to purchase a brass backing nut separately to solve my particular problem, but as it has a brass shaft they could've supplied a metallic nut as the threads are less likely to get damaged. Either way a good problem and sorted out my water hammer problem. Oh it also comes with an restricter which you can optionally fit to further reduce water hammer, I fitted the restricter anyway.

Super swap-in replacement
We've a push-button loo in our new place. I've worked with traditional ballcock-based pull-handle loos in the past, but this approach was all new to me. And when our cistern started filling in a repeatedly stop-start way, clanging the pipes each time it did so, I had to find a way of fixing it. So, I watched a few YouTube videos. One plumber recommended this device. Checking reviews on other sites indicated that it's highly recommended by professionals. Notably, there's also a video by Fluidmaster itself explaining how they recommend fitting the valve, which is worth a view. The price of this item goes up and down on a daily basis, so I'd keep an eye on it for a few days if I were you. Fitting it in my case was easy and took 30 minutes. Admittedly I'd had a rehearsal a few days earlier removing the old fill valve to see if it could be repaired. But this is basically a swap-in part, in a system designed to be both modular and to avoid interconnection. It looks bigger in the picture here on Amazon, which worried me. I worried the brass shank fitting was too large for my existing attachment. But I took a leap of faith based on that YouTube plumber's recommendation. Before installation, I just adjusted its length/height to match the existing valve. I also fitted the small in-pipe flow regulator widget they provide. We're mains-fed and the water pressure isn't amazingly high, but I figured the flow regulator would help reduce noise. And it does. Even with the flow regulator in place, the cistern fills in less than a minute. It's not silent, but the bottom-filling approach of this valve means it's more of a quiet hissing sound, compared to water being poured onto water, which is the sound the previous valve made. There's no bang or clang when the cistern is full. Once fitted and with the water turned back on, I had to adjust the little thumb screw to optimise the water level in the cistern to just below the overflow pipe. That wasn't hard, and was completed after a few test flushes. All in all, very happy. It's certainly a lot less fussy than the ballcock valves of old.

Water hammer issue resolved.
Initial impressions after a few days of installation are positive. Having had a previous inlet valve (fluidmaster 400A) replaced with a like-for-like replacement this was soon followed by water hammer, occurring when the adjacent sink tap was turned on whilst the loo was refilling after flushing. I had 5 different plumbers in to try and fix the problem. This ended up costing me hundreds as I had a new tap and a water hammer arrestor fitted. But neither helped fix the problem. Partially closing the loo and sink valves decreased the hammer but made the noise from flushing or the tap much more noticeable throughout my house. I saw the Fluidmaster 45b advertisement saying it stops or reduces water hammer and so decided to give it a go. I also viewed the fluidmaster bottom entry inlet valve installation video on YouTube, and decided I'd give it a go rather than pay another £80 to a plumber. I found the installation just as easy as the video suggested. Upon removing the old valve I noted it did not contain the small water pressure reducing 'bung' and so ensured I fitted this (supplied with the 45b valve) into the 45b prior to installation. I believe this device, along with the brass thread at the bottom of the valve is the reason why (fingers crossed) the water hammer has now disappeared whilst the refill is ultra quiet, even with all valves now turned back to fully open. If only I'd done this from the outset I'd be about £400 better off!

Easy to fit
Ordered this as a like for like replacement after the rubber seal on the old one (which I would guess is 15 years old or more) gave out. Easy to install and works straight away without too much fiddling. Relatively adjustable. I would prefer a metal backnut but the plastic one supplied with this kit is perfectly serviceable

Utilisé en remplacement du modèle identique, qui avait tenu 15 ans, et a cessé de fonctionner à cause du calcaire. Produit très qualitatif. Bien noter que le filetage mâle est en 1/2 pouce.

Fungerar perfekt i mina Gustavsberg Nordic toaletter. Enkelt att ställa in och montera. Fyller cisternen snabbt och relativt tyst (med 5bar systemvattentryck).
