Raspberry Pi NoIR v2.1 8 MP 1080p Camera Module

During lock down I set myself a goal of putting a CCTV system together for my motorcycle garage and this project just keeps on growing! I purchased this camera for a PI Zero W and it has not disappointed as secondary camera when using the IR LED's from a the camera on an old Raspberry PI 2 that I had laying around

I wanted to make a night camera that wasn’t washed out by bright lights (torches and headlights) so you need one of these and your own IR band pass filter matched to your illumination source wavelength that swings over the camera at night. Daylight pictures are purple tinted as there is no IR cut filter but for security purposes who cares.

The sharpness isn't quite what I was hoping for, and it doesn't work well with my 950nm IR LEDs, but have bought some 850nm ones that should work better according to other reviews I've read, but over all happy with it. Note that mine was out of focus out of the box for some reason, just rotate the lens if you experience this.

With motioneyeos on fastnetwork with ir cam can see at night by adjusting settings but then does not record. Using kerberos great surveillance but no good at night. going to buy normal camera now as may as well get correct colours in daylight with recording.

Didn't use it for night vision, used the blue filter included to assess plant health based on NDVI. Got my degree thanks to this camera.

great camera easy to use. nice quality for low lighting shots.

My son seems very happy with this item, he is using it to record plant growth for reasons which are beyond me.

I ordered my first example only to discover it would not function - error message was 'failed to enable component: ENOSPC. and Please check for firmware updates. Tried on one Pi 4 and 3 Pi 3's, all newly installed with OS and camera interface enabled. Figuring this was just a broken cam I sent it back and ordered another. It has just arrived and I get the same result. This one is also going to be returned. It should be really simple to get a sample image from the cam, the 'raspistill' command is built-in to the OS. There's no way I'm going to bother ordering a third example, I'll look for an alternative manufacturer instead. So - if you want to avoid disappointment don't bother with this camera. @update: I spent hours trying to resolve this problem using a replacement cam which also showed this error (and also a third cam from different manufacturer). Went through all possible 'fixes' as described in a variety of posts on help forums, all with no success. Finally, after starting with a fresh Noobs SD card, I found the following sequence that did work. Connect camera, boot the Noobs SD and install the OS. Do not run updates yet. Enable (only!) the cam interface using raspberry configuration utility. Reboot. Test camera using command 'raspistill -o test.jpg'. You should find it works now... Finally run apt-get update and upgrade, and also enable whatever additional interfaces you need (beware of 1-wire though which can also interfere with camera operation). So my conclusion is that the cam itself is not the issue, but there is an issue with some installations of Raspbian which can prevent the cam from operating successfully. Despite the cam not being at fault it still only gets 3 stars because really, it can cause a whole bunch of grief should you be unlucky enough to find it doesn't work for you!

Easy set up. Already had the feature enabled for my Pi. A restart of the board and I had a great picture. Made it really easy to monitor my 3D projects.

These modules are really great, for the price they work with a lot of stuff and their performance is quite sufficient.

Hintergrund: Es handelt sich hierbei um die Version V2 mit 8MP Kamera und ohne IR-Filter. Das gleiche Modell wird von anderen Anbietern unter ähnlichen Bezeichnungen angeboten und hat dort zurecht sehr gute Bewertungen. Hier gab es nur eine einzige Bewertung mit 2 Punkten, weil kein Blaufilter dabei war (Händler: The Pi Hut), die ich schließlich glücklicherweise ignoriert habe. Oft liest man auch von einer schlechten Bildqualität, d.h. von einem unscharfen Bild. Tatsache ist, dass die Kamera im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger nicht mehr auf unendlich fokussiert ist. Allerdings stellte man fest, dass die Fokussierung zwischen den einzelnen Kameras unterschiedlich war, so dass mal auf einige Zentimeter und mal auf mehrere Meter fokussiert wurde. Der Käufer konnte Glück oder (meistens) Pech haben, ob dies zu seinem Anwendungsfall passt. Bei meiner Kamera vom Händler New IT Limited war ein Plastikwerkzeug dabei, mit dem man die Linse rein- und rausschrauben kann. Dadurch konnte ich für meinen Fall passend fokussieren (auf ca. 1,5m). Das rechtfertigt in meinen Augen auch diese Versionsbezeichnung (V2.1) ;-) . Positiv: + Fokussierung über Verstellung der Linse einstellbar + Läuft mit dem Raspberry Pi out of the box + Mit IR-Scheinwerfern erweiterbar + Gute Bilder / Videos bei (völliger) Dunkelheit (nur mit zusätzlichen IR-Scheinwerfern) Neutral o Auch bei Tageslicht wirklich gute Bilder. Der natürlich vorhandene Rotstich aufgrund des fehlenden IR-Filters fällt weit schwächer aus als erwartet o Es ist ein Blaufilter dabei. Ich habe ihn aber nicht verwendet bzw. getestet. Details: Ich verwende die Kamera zusammen mit motioneye auf dem Raspberry Pi 2. Howtos findet man im Netz, dann ist alles recht einfach. Für mein Projekt (Überwachung der Babywiege) habe ich zunächst über die Anschaffung einer zweiten, normalen Kamera nachgedacht, weil ja die NoIR-Kamera bei Tageslicht die Farben verfälscht. Dieser Rotstich stört mich jetzt aber weit weniger als erwartet, eine zweite Kamera ist nicht nötig. Die Helligkeit wird anscheinend von der Kamera selbst eingestellt, mit motion passt sie jedenfalls immer, egal ob bei Tageslicht oder im Dunkeln. Ohne IR-Scheinwerfer kann die Kamera in wirklich dunklen Räumen natürlich nichts sehen. An der Kamera habe ich deshalb zwei billige IR-Scheinwerfer befestigt. Dabei habe ich oft gelesen, dass diese bei der NoIR Kamera nicht passen sollen. Die Lochabstände sind auch wirklich nicht identisch. Mit den relativ dünnen Schrauben bei den Scheinwerfern lassen sich diese aber dennoch einfach befestigen. Mit Strom müssen Sie natürlich extra versorgt werden, das erfolgt nicht über die Kamera (ist auch gut so). Fazit: Die Kamera ist super für mich. Zusammen mit dem Pi, den IR-Scheinwerfern und der motioneye-Software habe ich jetzt eine tolle Überwachungs- bzw. Baby-Kamera.

Répond complètement à mes attente. Bien prendre en compte qu'elle ne conviens pas vraiment à la vidéo ou photo de jour. Elle n'a pas de filtre infra rouge.
