Are you asking about speeds THROUGH the Vault out to the internet? Or are you asking about speeds on your LAN through the switch? Generally speaking, simply connecting a switch will not affect speeds, but if you connect a switch and you have lots of devices connected that are utilizing bandwidth, then it is feasible that you could saturate the 1Gbps link between the Vault and the switch.

Q: Does this replace replace existing modem (cable router modem)?

Hello The vault can be used in multiple ways but its most commonly used as a firewall which would replace your home router and not your modem. Hello If you're looking for a 4port 2.5G Interface unit that's capable of 32GB, I'd suggest the VP2420. Our VP4600 units which are also 2.5G interfaces can use more than 32GB.
