Wonderful book. Heavy and big. It has a good sized paragraph pen-portrait of basically every rose you are likely to consider buying, at least here in the UK. Maybe 2/3 of those roses have a full colour illustration to go with them.Split into chapters, each covering a group of roses. Takes a mostly chronological order; I knew nothing of rose families before, but now I have a working grasp, and thanks to the photos, have some ideas of how to tell them apart.Largest chapter is, obviously, on the English roses that David Austin developed.

The Rose by David Austin.For anyone interested in growing and cultivating roses this book is a must. As well as having colour illustrations of different roses it also describes each type of rose in detail, giving excellent details on looking after and inceasing you stock by way of cuttings. I am extremely satisfied with the book and highly recommend it to all rose lovers.

After having planted many David Austin roses, I bought this book to feed my growing love of roses. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for the ultimate rose book for themselves or as a gift.

An in depth and thoroughly knowledgable review of roses, as one would expect from this author. This is a big, heavy book, not ideal for bedtime reading, but to a lover of these beautiful plants it is a goldmine of information. Definitely recommended.

This is a beautiful book. I bought it for my father as a birthday present, he’s a keen gardener, and he loves it.

I was overjoyed when the book arrived yesterday. When I placed the order it said not before xmas, but it came yesterday before any of my other orders. I call this book a little miracle, and it's the only thing my husband has asked for this xmas.

A must have book if you like David Austin roses, it's almost as beautiful as the roses themselves.
