Pacsafe 85 Anti-Theft Backpack And Bag Protector

I have used this for a couple of years, usually during the summer when I want to wear my protective gear but don't want to walk around in it on a warm day when I reach my destination. Used with a fold-a-way holdall it easily takes boots, gloves, leather trouser and jacket, and helmet.I leave it locked to my bike all day, so far my gear has never been interfered with, I am confident it deters most thieves who will look for easy pickings elsewhere.The only negative is the cheap lock, for peace of mind I added a better quality alarmed padlock that is triggered if the bag is moved.

I bought this to travel round Asia, especially on Indian Railways. While it's not a guarantee and could be snipped through with wire cutters, it definitely provides enough of a deterrent for would be thieves.Those who claim it screams 'steal me' are way off, firstly you put your rain cover over the top so it's disguised, secondly thieves are far more likely to take an unsecured bag than a secured bag any day of the week.I'm carrying a lot of expensive stuff with me (I'm a travel - work - travel person) and it definitely puts my mind at rest knowing no one can just stick their hand in and pull my laptop out my bag.In terms of portability, it's lightweight and packs down small. I'm glad I went for it.

I bought this to lock my bag to the rails along the seafront when we go for a swim as some of the club members have had their bags taken. I only have a small 25L rucksack and you would be able to take things out of it but I never have anything valuable in it as I have an aquapac for my keys and money. We tend to put 2-3 bags in it as its roomy. It would be better with larger bags if 'proper' security is needed

Nicely made and easy to use. Luckily its security has never been tested ... but it does give a bit of peace of mind. I used it in my hotel room & in the boot of my car on arecent holiday. I have a medium sized "LowePro Photo trekker classic" rucksac and the "85" is just a bit too small. I'd've bought a larger one if I'd known but this one means I'm a bit "happier" leaving the rucksac tied up somewhere

This cost more than my bag and a fair amount of the contents - but I believe it is worth it.You can padlock the zips of your backpack to your heart's content, but all someone needs is a pair of scissors and they're in. This mesh just slips over the top and padlocks nicely. Yes, if someone is determined they could sneak their hands through the mesh and start snipping away at your bag - but I like to think it would take too much effort for a thief to do that. It is possible to get it back into its little case, but to be honest it lives wrapped around my big bag.

I purchased this packsafe for a 6 month stint in Asia, thinking I would use it to keep my bag safe on trains, buses and in hostels. However in reality it saw very little use -The concept is good and the device well made, it would stop the opportunist thief, however I found it made my bag look significantly more enticing to anyone interested in stealing.I was also very concious of weight, and although this is not a huge product, it does weigh and take up enough space to be noticeable, even within a 60l backpack.Maybe useful for some, but I ended up posting mine home after just 1 month as it took up too much space and wasn't providing enough use.

Very handy to secure a soft luggage roll and a back pack onto the back of my Harley during a long road trip through unknown territory; seemed the right thickness gauge to deter opportunistic thieves and/or vandals, without being too heavy to carry. Still need a pair of Kanulock lockable roof rack straps to secure the packs onto the bike during riding.

This was fantastic for our trip to India. It was extremely secure and was very useful on overnight trains. We had a backpack that was 65-85L (expandable) but probably held around 65-75L on average and it fit perfectly. The extra sense of security during our trip with was priceless. It takes a little bit of getting used to but with a bit of practice it takes next to no time to put on/remove/store. This basically allowed us to actually sleep on trains rather than sleeping with one eye open which was worth the money many times over.
