Works as intended, update your mag box first
I thought it was broke or not compatible, it was working fine, just need to update the mag box first.

Does Not Work!!!
Very disappointed with this product. It was advertised as MAG 254 compatible (amongst others) but does not work. I previously purchased one of these via Amazon a few years ago which works perfectly. The two products are identical in appearance and Im convinced they are manufactured by the same company. The only very small difference I notice is that the small blue light in the USB housing flashes / blinks on the original but this new one is solid blue, indicating to me that it's not pairing. The other difference is that I paid £9 ish on the original but only £4 odd on this one. I suppose you get what you pay for! Cannot be bothered to send it back for the sake of £4 but I must choose very carefully the replacement. By the way, I have 2 MAG 254's in case I confused anyone!

Needed drivers and some fiddling for Win 7 but works fine
Works fine. Needed to ask for drivers for Win 7,but once I asked the support was there. The supplied driver pack worked OK - see my comments in questions for how it has to work. Now it's running, it's fine with the router in the next room.

Can't go by the chipset - not recommended for Linux OpenWRT use
I received a unbranded dongle made in China with the chipset listed on the packet as MT7601 / 8188 and used the RTL8188ETV chipset. The driver is old and available for Raspbian but when I installed it I got a wlan interface but didn't associate with a network. I think it is not what I'm looking for and better to buy a different dongle.
