This fits a ribbon cable perfectly.
This connector allows a ribbon cable to neatly pass a great many data and control signals between computer controller and a device to be controlled.

product as described, but might should bear more description
I bought these to change and IDE board-to-drive cable into an IDE extension cable. IDE cable robbons in a computer are 80 conductor (for supporting master and slave drives?). These are designed for 40 conductor ribbon cables (as described), and will not work on 80 pin ribbon cables OEM out of a PC. I have ordered 40 conductor ribbon and 40p female headers to reattempt my IDE extension cable (which would theoretically only support a single drive per fabricated cable). will update with my results. the quality is top-notch, but the use cases wasnt exactly clear. I have as of yet been unable to find the male headers for 40 pins on an 80 conductor ribbon such as would work with OEM IDE cables.
