Electric Blues Box Slide Guitar Kit

For the price this is a really good bit of kit.It certainly isn't professional standard but for a complete, novice like me, it's a great introduction to CBG's.Instructions and beginners lessons are clear and will have you playing the basics in a few days.My daughter made off with it for a few hours. She had it plugged into her guitar amp and was making some great sounds. With practice I may match her one day.A great cheap present for the musician in the family or a solid way to introduce someone to CBG's.I plan to use this for a month or two and then upgrade to a real one.RecommendI kept snapping my top G string. Tuned it to G like it said and ping, everytime. Being a complete novice I didn't realise there were different G's.Download gstring app (free on Google play) and make sure the settings are at Open G. Then tune the top to G2. Middle string to D3 and the bottom string to G3. No more snapped strings and a guitar in tune.This little guitar worked. Since buying it I've made three of my own cbg's and 'acquired' one or two others. Totally hooked now!

This arrived quite quickly & in perfect nick. Iwas slightly disappointed that there is almost no DIY involved; the neck, tuners & pickup & jack were already assembled. All I had to do was fit the end-pins, nut, bridge & strings. The guitar is quite robust considering the box is cardboard & it sounds surprisingly twangy even without an amplifier. It tuned easily & holds tuning even if you press too hard on the strings as you're bound to do at first. A light touch works best for a delightfully clear sound for a fretless neck. Remember to press down bang on the fretline & not behind it as you normally would to keep in tune. The price is low @ £25 making this good VFM. It's whetted my appetite for a more refined product & I'm in the process of pricing up the parts to make my own CBG. This was a great buy.

I now have a totally Over-The-Moon Father-In-Law who had previously been tinkering with making his own (he's a blues guitar hobbyist).We decided to buy this for him for Christmas - so at the very least he had a template for his own guitar building efforts. Within 2-minutes he'd assembled it, another couple and he'd strung it and tuned it. Five minutes later he was in his car listening to the instructional CD and talking to my Neighbour (who also builds guitars) - well, we wasn't going to turn off our Christmas playlist :)Ok .. the body is made from some sort of fibre board that is coated with a plastic printed film and is not the best quality ... but for the money and the instructional material (and links to further material on YouTube) it's highly recommended.

Bought this for my brother for Christmas and he loves it. Putting it together took no time at all and within a few mins he had it tuned and working his way through the book to get started with a few blues rifts. The guitar is of good quality and is well put together, however as in some cigar box guitars the frets are only marked on. The cigar box is ok too but the facade is actually a sticker, however the diy'ers among us could easily swap it out for a real cigar box down the road.I loved it so much I've gone and ordered one myself. For the price you can't really beat it and it's an excellent stepping stone into this area.

This is absolutely wonderful! Yes the body is cardboard - it says that in the description - and it’s £30 comes with a slide, book and cd. If someone bought me this for a gift I’d be delighted. Loads of fun, and enough info to get you going on it immediately (after putting the strings, bridge and nut on). It’s a kit, it’s an instrument, it has lessons.

This kit is fantastic, simple and interesting to build, all parts supplied and a very comprehensive booklet and C.D. and it even has a built in electric pick-up so if you have an amp, you can thrill the neighbours!Stays in tune, easy to play and there's loads of lessons on line to help you, if you're new to making music. This is one of those things that if I lost it I'd order another the same day-

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting anything special for the price and it is a great introduction into the box guitar...... BUT...... Just be aware that the "cigar box" is nothing more than cardboard made to look like wood which left me feeling a bit peeved. I expected at the very least for this to be made from thin plywood at the very least.

Great little kit well made all wood looks like ply or hardboard base just right for the job and makes an ideal starter kit and a handy guitar for years to come. Comes with an easy to follow book and CD and all you need to get going
