This is the smaller version. It is ideal for use with the Weber Go-anywhere portable barbecue, not for the full-size ones. It is very effective at getting the charcoal well lit, ready to decant onto the barbecue. I have only used it with irregular lump-wood charcoal. It's fine. I guess it would be even better with barbecue briquettes. You need a pair of suitable gloves (rough gardening gloves will do), and you need something heatproof to put the chimney on once you have decanted the hot charcoal, for it to cool down. Not to be used with young children around - they won't appreciate the danger. It is EXTREMELY HOT. Snag: it is bulky. There's no way of reducing its size. So adds a lot of volume to your portable barbecue kit. Recommended though, for reliable starting. UPDATE, 1 year later Even better. Now I'm used to it, it gives perfect results 100% of the time. Works fine with wood charcoal or briquettes. If filled it is enough for cooking for 3-4. Three-quarters full it is fine for 2 people. It takes about 25 minutes between lighting (one fire-lighter is plenty!) and being ready to decant it into the barbecue. I wouldn't be without this. It is brilliant.

Great quality ideal for small bbq

Having read reviews, I finally decided to buy the starter and it is fantastic. Just use one small piece of firefighter, full with charcoal or lumpwood, light it and allow 30 minutes to get a full chimney load of lit charcoal/Lumpwood. A great piece of kit for any BBQ station.

Works as intended and makes starting of the fire super easy! Highly recommended. One star off for small bit of rust (doesn’t matter as you are literally using it to start fire…)

Best thing you can have as a bbq lover. I have the full size version already and bought this to use it with my portable bbq. Starts the charcoal rapidly and the quality is amazing. You get what you pay for and more. I can't recommend it enough.

The other reviews are all true 😀. I've been messing about for years furiously fanning the charcoal with an old plastic plate, and more recently blasting it with air from an Air Hammer paddling pool pump. A chimney starter is the modern way and achieves the end far more effectively, in less time, and with zero effort. I'd never go back. As for this particular model, I've used it only once so far. It lights just enough charcoal for a 40x20 cm cooking area. A marginally bigger chimney wouldn't have hurt but this one is small enough to pack away inside the grill so it suits my use in the caravan.

Excellent item, this is the small, as I have the go-anywhere BBQ and this will do enough charcoal for half this bbq. So if you want a full bbq or have a bigger bbq then buy the large. Highly recommended

avevo dei dubbi su come sarebbe arrivato, un oggetto così irregolare. Invece un confezionamento TOP con pluriball di qualità e ben avvolto tutto intorno. arrivato, è stato messo subito alla prova e... è veramente efficiente. Un paio di diavoline sotto, carbone sopra e in men che non si dica avrete la carbonella calda e pronta per un bbq medio. usato su un bbq di 90cm di larghezza, e ben profondo, ho dovuto metterci due "camini" weber pieni. e la comodità di poter cominciare a cuocere mentre l'altra carbonella è in preparazione ti permette di sbraciare a ciclo continuo. il metallo è spesso, diffidate da altri camini, di pari prezzo tra l'altro, ma che sono fatti di lamierina. qui abbiamo un spessore giusto, ottime saldature e, non di poco, un ottimo deflettore sul manico che evita arrivi il calore sul manico. che dire, usato per accendere la carbonella, a ciclo continuo, per una braciata per 50 persone ha incendiato ben 3kg di carbonella senza avere il benchè minimo accenno a flessioni o perdita di solidità. veramente ben fatto e ben costruito
