Good, better than using carbon filters

As there is a bag attached it is easy to fill it as much or as little as you need to. Although it says 'bags', there is only one bag attached but it is reusable. I find this product does help to keep the water clear, alongside other items placed in the filtration system. I am happy to recommend it.

Using in my Fluval 206 marine setup along side Carbon and I've seen an improvement in water quality within 6 hours. My only gripe with this (which may well just be down to my own lack of knowledge) was I interpreted the instructions as suggesting you should place the Clearmax directly into the media basket (removing all bags etc...) which I know understand is wrong, the Clearmax should be placed in the media basket inside the bag it comes in (removing only the plastic bag). Luckily I realised this didn't seem right before turning my filter on (I suspect the loose debris may have damaged the propeller head).... instructions really should be more clear as the wording ("place directly into media basket") could be misinterpreted and cause damage to filters... also means I've wasted a bag of this stuff as well.

This carbon is high quality and keeps your aquarium clear and clean smelling. I use it in a freshwater aquarium and it’s down to personal choice really. It won’t solve problems such as algae growth but definitely gives the water a nice polish. As every other review says; it only comes with one bag but if you're using the fluval 30X or 40X filters you can just put the bag over the partition and spread it over both if you plan on using a lot. Keep in mind that you do not need as much as you think; I put in almost a half and it barely fit into the baskets of my 306 filter and I had already rinsed it thoroughly so couldn't take any out. It comes with about 5 small zip ties to close the bag but if you expect to be using less than a fifth of it each time you can easily tie the large bag it comes with in a knot. It works out much cheaper than the individual bags so I cannot complain!! If you want a media bag with a zip and a mesh that’s fine enough to keep this stuff in I recommend Seachem’s small zip bag - it’ll take some of the faff out of replacing the carbon.

Purchased this a few months ago after reading glowing reviews. Been keeping tropical fish for 30 years using Ehime external filters. Worst thing I've ever done. After about 6 weeks started getting lots of green algie Had recently changed food brand and lighting so wasn't sure what was causing the problem. In the end I took the clear max out of the filter and within 2 days the algie had disappeared. Definitely would never use or recommend this product again. Not something I would expect from Fluval

I got enough carbon too last my 2 canister filters for over a year. Total 1200 ltrs per hour on 2x150 ltr tanks. Good deal,find smaller bags if you need them. Better than pre-made filter media.

Faisant confiance aux commentaires positifs, j'utilise ce produit depuis le mois de février 2025. Mon eaux trouble et devenue limpide... (quelques jours suffisent). J'utilise deux sachets de 100 gr pour mon aquarium de 250 litres que je change tous les mois dans ma pompe externe. C'est parfait. Je vous recommande ce produit sans hésiter.

Nutze die Aktivkohle für die Bong - zum reinigen des Rauchs und fürs Katzenklo. Funktioniert beides super, dank der genialen Körnung. Kann ich für diese Zwecke auch empfehlen.
